Milafleur presents the second member in the series of pictorial fonts with calligraphic miniatures by Lyudmila Mikhailova. The first font of the series, Milanette, was released one month earlier. Milafleur contains more than 60 pictures -- mostly flowers which define the origin of its name. In contrast to Milanette the pictures in Milafleur are less abstract and thus can be used as small illustrations in greeting texts, postcards, intimate notes, diaries and even in Christmas cards because some of the pictures show strobiles instead of flowers and coniferous branches instead of leaves. I've had a lot of lovely cakes through the years (My wife is a great cook!) But I've also tried some really...ehem...not so good cakes. Actually, the worst cake I ever had, was at work - if you didn't know, I work as a kindergarten teacher - and the cake was made by one of the kids! Anyway, this font was made as a sort of tribute to that cake - the font may not represent something that is smooth and lovely, but it was made with lots of personality and love - just like that cake from that kindergarten kid!

Linotype Zensur is part of the Take Type Library, chosen from the entries of the Linotype-sponsored International Digital Type Design Contests of 1994 and 1997. This fun font was created by French designer Gérarld Alexandre and contains one weight. The characters look as though parts of each of them were censored or removed, leaving just enough left over to know what was meant. The basic forms of this font are sans serif and the rounded corners give it an almost soft character. Linotype Zensur is a distinctive typeface which is especially good for headlines in larger point sizes.

How does one arrive at a font name? With the thousands of digital typefaces available, it's not an easy process. Bandleader JNL was modeled from the hand-lettered title on a piece of sheet music called "Largo", which means "slow tempo". Since the names "Largo" and "Tempo" were already taken, what other musical theme would fit? The lettering is in an Art Deco style, and Big Band was all the rage of the Art Deco period; therefore "Bandleader". Sometimes the road to naming a font takes on many twists and turns but the end result is always gratifying.

Originally I wanted to call this font Chewy Caramel, because I love caramel. But that name was already taken, so I deleted two letters in the name and ended up with Chewy Camel instead. I know that the designer of Chewy Caramel don’t mind - because that is my good friend, David, who made that one! :) Chewy Camel was made with a slightly blurry and inky pen, and is suitable for most things that need a true organic hand lettered font. I have added 6 slightly different versions of each letter, and there is multilingual support as well

I love blueberries. When my brother and I were young, we used to pick them in the forest by the bucket. Afterwards, we’d always look like victims of a serial killer, but it was all worth it, as nothing quite tastes likes homemade blueberry jam. I don’t know why I named this cute little font Blueberry Jam. Maybe I was craving some… Blueberry Jam is a highly legible, extremely cute and very handmade font. It would look good on just anything, but book covers, product packaging and homemade jam labels come to mind. Blueberry Jam comes with a bucketload of diacritics.

Stick-A-Round started as an attempt to domesticate the wild ​Daft Brush font. During the process, though, it begun taking its own shape and personality, with friendly rounded terminals, dynamic interlock pairs and lots of alternates. There are at least 4 variations for each letter and 2 for the numbers and ​for ​some punctuation marks, plus a​n extra​ set of stylistic alternates. Andove is a narrow sans font with very tight compression. With a slim character and a fairly large x-height, Andove looks great for very large and eye-catching typesettings. The one-sided serif in ascenders makes this font very unique and stands out to show it is sporty and strong enough. What's even more interesting is Andove has a true italic on each weight so it can be an option for really big headlines and poster title. Andove consists of 10 styles in six weights — Thin to Bold — Upright and True Italics and comes with extended language support including Cyrillic.

I remember that my auntie once made a dish called ‘Macaroni and Smac’. It consisted of little ‘elbow’ macaroni, Spam (which in Holland was called Smac), cheese and ketchup. I am sure it didn’t contain on of your five a day, but it was delicious. As far as I know, I have eaten it only once, but it did make a lasting impression! Biscuits & Spam is a handmade ‘Western’ style font, which I found in my ‘unfinished fonts’ folder. We just had the Eurovision Song Contest here in Holland. I quite like to watch it, as it is usually a freak show of kitsch, political incorrectness and often really bad music. But it is a laugh and this year was no different. It inspired me to create this particular font with this particular name. Sing Along is a happy, wobbly, kitschy font that comes with a bit of ‘over-the-topness’, a few personality issues and an unsteady gait. Needless to say, it is politically incorrect, but that, my friends, is not necessarily a bad thing.

Bacterio is a typeface I designed for this hulk of a friend of mine who is a kitchen designer. He is huge but has a very delicate feeling for form. One day he said he was trying out something new and if I couldn't make a font for him. Then he showed me the surface design, a hard-plastic covered multilayered wood. The surface design was called "Bacteria" and it looked just like that, only in multicolors. Well here is "Bacterio" the font that looks just like that surface of my hulky friend.
