Historical typography makes a comeback. A revival of one of the most popular of a number of rugged typefaces used around the turn of the century, Croft revives the creation of Lewis Buddy III, known as "Roycroft" in 1912 ATF catalogs. It also, according to ATF, was designed "partly" by Morris Benton, around 1898. The original typeface might be considered an early form of grunge fonts. This typestyle maintains historical flavor, while also being relevant today. It has been expanded to have more discretionary ligatures and numerals sets for versatility, and maintains the original stylistic alternates and standard ligatures. A Blocky Geometric Techical typestyle Modulate began as a digitization of a film typeface from LetterGraphics in the early 70's known as "Cadence". We've fleshed out the Modulate typeface to include a full standard character set, an extended international set, and a handful of alternate character styles. The Quandor Family began as a digitization of a film typeface from LetterGraphics known simply as "Impacta". We've fleshed out the original style and added an Oblique to the family, but we just couldn't leave it alone at that, and beefed it up to include an Ultra Black and Ultra Black Oblique style as well, because uber heavyweight font styles are the bees knees. The idea for Gilman started simple enough, a serif typeface that works well for large amounts of text. However, after many struggles creating a quality typeface digitally, I decided to first draw the complete alphabet by hand on paper, and then trace that digitally. The result is a unique workhorse typeface with a subtle “human touch” that is very rare in this modern technological age. Gilman has extensive language support and comes with many opentype features like true small caps, tabular lining figures, stylistic alternates, ligatures and more. Gilman Sans (derived from the serif) is an excellent compliment and works together harmoniously with Gilman on the page.

Prototype is a typeface with a very contemporary identity crisis—is it old or new? uppercase or lowercase? serif or sans-serif? Prototype tries to be all things to all people. There have been many attempts at creating a universal typeface, one that rationalises the alphabet and removes the inconsistencies of upper and lower case, applying an unreasonable logic to something that has grown organically ...and is already perfectly usable! Prototype was the same experiment carried out at a time when design was experiencing an identity crisis of its own—letterforms that try to be all things to all people but end up being something else entirely.

The original sketch of Joker was drawn by Viktor Kharyk in 1978 as experiment on creation type by a method of subtraction. In 2000 the font was digitized, modified and Hebrew, Greek, Georgian, Armenian and Arabi? alphabets and outline style were added. As a display face, Joker allows the creation of decorative compositions, easily combining a vertical and horizontal arrangement of words. Its characters are easy for filling with images. In line the face creates ornamental effect very appropriate for logotype design. The font is good to set small expressive advertising texts also. Joker type family received the third prize at TypeArt 2001 Cyrillic type design competition in Moscow.

Brogue was designed to be a display typeface, but it can be used for a small body of text. At its core it is an uncial influenced typeface that has been allowed to stray from its roots. Spotlight was created by British designer Tony Geddes in the tradition of the bold serif fonts of early 19th century England. It too is a robust alphabet exhibiting extreme stroke contrasts, however, Geddes gave his font a more relaxed feel by not filling in the strokes completely. Long white rays break up the otherwise dark black strokes, following the form of the outer contours and giving the figures a three dimensional look. Spotlight is also reminiscent of the decorative advertisements of the 1930s and of the glamorous revues and shows of this time. Spotlight is perfect for headlines and display in larger point sizes.

Salas is a fun, chunky, slab serif omnicase display font. It's blocky and loud, so it can scream from Posters and Headlines. Think of a clown with poor hearing making a Skype call, he's shouting, but you like it. Anyway: it has over 300 glyphs, several variations on the standard alphabet and lots of those extra foreign features for sending international ransom notes. Barbieri is a casual sans type family, based on a German lettering style from the 1960s. The original hand-drawn alphabet was used in a rather peculiar edition of Der Barbier von Bagdad, an opera composed by Peter Cornelius. Our efforts to identify the cover designer have been, so far, unsuccessful. As fans of informal typography and popular lettering styles, we thought these few thin letters deserved a re-incarnation as a complete type family. Andrés Torresi and Marta Sánchez Marco were in charge of the production work. Now Barbieri has 6 weights suitable for packaging, posters, and music covers. It resembles a certain 'Americana' spirit, though with a Germanic twist.

QRc is based on a 2-D, space-saving optical code widely used in Japan. The code was originally intended for use in factories but quickly crossed into the consumer sector. With an enabled handset, a QR code -- which can appear on an ad, postcard, or almost anywhere else -- can be instantly interpreted to reveal its underlying message. QR contains 219 images. You can use the QRc font to accurately encode the letters you type, or just use it to create fields of lovely, semi-random pixel texture! The counterpart font, QR Type, is also a celebration of entropic pixelation, but the formations are alphabetic and human-readable.

Underscript, from designer Claudio Rocha, is an alphabet of capital letters in handwritten style. Each letter has a corresponding alternative form and using both randomly in a text can give it the look of real handwriting. One constant element in the font is its stroke width. The strong figures are even and have rounded corners, lending them a cheerful appearance. All other attributes vary from letter to letter. Wide and narrow, high and low, the figures line themselves up unevenly on the base line. So can Underscript create a dynamic overall image with contrast. Découpé Based on a French children’s play from 1906. In a car boot sale André Toet found a funny looking box containing a lot of cut out cardboard figures, in fact it looked a bit like a geometric puzzle! He played around a bit and succeeded to create a workable typeface with it ! The interesting thing about this particular font is, that in fact it’s organized chaos. The 26 letters of the alphabet are a mix between caps and lowercases, so within one word caps and lowercases will be used next to each other. It’s a very useful font for different projects. RyuGothic Family is a humanistic interpretation of the Hangul Gothic style. It delivers messages in a soft, calm tone that does not overpower. The narrow counter design of consonants in Hangul and the narrow counter of the Latin lowercase letters are connected to create a sense of structural unity between the two sets of characters. This enables you to read long lines and works well in a variety of media and situations. “Greuceanu” is the the name of a brave romanian fairy tale character and his mission was to eliberate de Sun and the Moon that were stolen by some Dragon like creatures that in romanian folklore they are called “ Zmei”. It inspired me to create this decorative uppercase display typeface with strong influences from old cyrillic writing and also a touch of fun and geometrical construction explorations. Besides Extended Latin Support it includes also Cyrillic and Greek alphabets as you already can expect from most of DePlictis Types releases. This decorative typeface goes well for use in book covers and headlines and only your creativity is the limit of its usability.

Lalola (whose early version was released as ‘Lola’ by the spanish foundry Type-Ø-Tones in 1997) is a display typeface with strong attitude. It was inspired by a lettering model by Eugen Nerdinger and Lisa Beck. From a few letters of that model, Lalola became an original design and a single font, comprising all the necessary characters for languages based on the Latin alphabet. You can ‘say it loud’ with Lalola, either in lower or uppercase, yet with wit and a unique, distinctive friendly voice. Lalola received already two mentions, the Typefacts’ Best Typefaces of 2013 and the prestigious TDC 2014 Certificate of Excellence.

Bickley Script was designed by Alan Meeks in 1986 and is based on the handwriting forms popular at the end of the 19th century. The flowery capitals contrast beautifully with the delicate and reserved lower case letters, fit perfectly together and enhance the handwritten character of the font. Bickley Script looks as though it were written with a fine tipped pen and has an elegant, nostalgic charm. The font is best for headlines as well as short to middle length texts and should be set in point sizes of 14 or larger, and Bickley Script's capitals can also be used as initials with other alphabets.

Umkhonto is the Zulu word for SPEAR, the traditional weapon of war that the Zulus used. The sharp points of the letters face upwards and represent the sharp points of the dangerous spears. The font includes a full 256 character set: all upper and lower case letters, as well as all numerals and punctuation. FT Drobbs is inspired by the Didot font group, known for its neoclassical style reminiscent of the Age of Enlightenment. The font includes a combination of very narrow and very wide lines. FT Drobbs features increased contrast between wide and narrow lines and includes rich teardrop endings. I love to watch how the lines bend, how they move, expanding or going into the thickness of the hair. I love their graceful beauty. FT Drobbs is not alphabetic, but it contains numbers, a set of basic currency symbols, and a few typographic characters. It is suitable for use as accents in labels, posters and infographics.

MTT Roma is designed to re-create the atmosphere of the city of Rome of the 21st century. The studio for the letterform evolved from the Trajan Column alphabet. Suitable for both display and body-text usage, stylistically MTT Roma aims to distance itself from the proliferation of geometric sans-serif families of its time. The result is a sharp, subtly humanist typeface inspired by modern day Rome, the city of contrasts and eternal beauty. Octopuss is an energetic titling typeface designed in 1970 by Colin Brignall for Letraset dry transfer sheets. Brignall expanded the basic alphabet with an outline variation with a shadow, which makes the typeface look three dimensional, almost like it is floating. Octopuss font displays the unmistakable signs of the typefaces of the 1970s, as do Countdown and Harlow, also designed by Brignall. The circular strokes of the capitals that drop well under the base line are striking and unique. Because of the small white spaces of its lower case letters, the rounded, robust Octopuss is meant exclusively as a headline font and should be set in large point sizes.

Osbourne is a display typeface with titles based on a refresh, a revival of Salem, originally designed by Keystone Type Foundry. A font with elevated x-height and condense proportions. Plywood is based on a long lost American film classic: Franklin Typefounders's Barker Flare from the early 1970s. Plywood is a surprisingly effective mix between the rigid confidence of nineteenth century wood types and the smooth feminine curves of twentieth century art nouveau ideas. With many variations on almost every letter in the alphabet, it's a versatile typeface that can make itself timelessly at home in multiple design environments, with motifs ranging from the strong and western to the crafty and artsy. Plywood's very expanded character set comes in all popular font formats, including a Pro version that takes advantage of OpenType's many character alternating features in supporting programs.
