Earlier this year I visited a bakery in Newport Beach, CA and fell in love with the organic design and typography of the place. Hand-drawn menus, table cards, chalkboards, and wall quotes surrounded the charming spot. It inspired me to create a new font family based on the combination of hand drawn fonts. Included in this package are 5 font families, with 2 graphic ornament fonts. Each font family contains at least a light, medium and bold. Here is a breakdown of what's cookin' at Catalina's Bakery: Catalina Anacapa: Tall and skinny, this font comes in 3 weights for both sans and slab serif styles. It includes contextual alternatives (giving 3 versions of each letter), stylistic alternatives for select letters (A, K, P, Q, R, Y) and also includes Small Caps. Catalina Avalon: Based off Anacapa, this sub family has a high contrasting line weight. It comes in light, regular and bold as well as an inline alternative for both sans and slab serif styles. This font family has derived from a lettering creation for my wedding stationery. One of the most significant momentos for me and my wife Xana (hence the font name - Xanas Wedding). I hope this typography can give a touch of informal elegance and discreet beauty to your projects. There can be multiple applications, since this font is flexible enough to appear as a custom text or a variable, organic, handwritten work. Initial and final swashes: you select a letter (like "a" of xanas wedding inicial swash) and then you type the other letters, but with another font (like xanas wedding bride, for example). BLT Balfour : Art Deco Revival Font Balfour is a modern Art Deco typeface revival. Built from historic references in architecture during this time period, Balfour exudes class and elegance, yet still honors the style with unapologetic bold geometric forms. Pay close attention to the letterforms B and R, and how their extreme x-heights play off of the elongated strokes of C, D and G. Unique features throughout the character set make it less predictable and more unique than any Art Deco typeface before it. The geometry of this typeface plays from one letter to the next. Fill and Outline styles work well in headlines, logos and large type. The Line style is effective at all sizes and can be used in combination with other styles to achieve visual hierarchy.

The first versions of Nimbus Sans have been designed and digitized in the 1980s for the URW SIGNUS sign-making system. Highest precision of all characters (1/100 mm accuracy) as well as spacing and kerning were required because the fonts should be cut in any size in vinyl or other material used for sign-making. During this period three size ranges were created for text (T), the display (D) and poster (P) for small, medium and very large font sizes. In addition, we produced a so-called L-version that was compatible to Adobe’s PostScript version of Helvetica. Nimbus was also the product name of a URW-proprietary renderer for high quality and fast rasterization of outline fonts, a software provided to the developers of PostScript clone RIPs (Hyphen, Harlequin, etc.) back then.

The original Headhunter shareware font was created in ©1992 by the famous D. Rakowski. It consisted of 63 unique skeletal Glyphs, including Capital A-Z, and a few bone symbols, but lacked lowercase and numerals. He has since abandoned his fonts to pursue other things. (You can download it from FontSquirrel for free.) I've always enjoyed this limited Halloween font, but its incompleteness had to be rectified; thus I took it upon myself to delve slightly into the world of typography, resulting in the birth of HeadhunterTwo. I've slightly reworked his original contribution and "fleshed out" more of the font than necessary. As of this writing, it consists of 777+ Glyphs and passes Underware's compatibility test for Latin Plus (Supporting 219 Latin based languages, which are spoken in 212 countries.)

Close Together was designed to alternate convex and concave letter sets, with convex letters on the upper-case keys and concave shapes on the lower-case keys. The OpenType feature of contextual alternatives (calt) does this automatically. Individually some of the letter shapes are strange and unsightly. They have the shapes that they have so that they fit snuggly with adjacent letters. The family has three weights: regular, bold, and extrabold. The letter spacing is set very tight and the user may want to loosen it by altering characters spacing. (Either the convex or concave set the letters can be used alone if the character spacing is adjusted.) The typeface has four OpenType stylistic sets of alternates, one for numbers and the others for letters D, T, and Y.

Font designed after that used in Brehan-Loudeac (Britanny, France) by Robin Fouquet and Jean Crès in years 1480s to print a lot of texts and books. This font include “long s”, naturally, as typically medieval, and a few special characters and abreviations, also some variants, like for “d”, “r” or “v”. The small “y” is accented, just like in British alphabet of the time, though the texts were printed in French. Added, a lot of accented characters no longer existing on this time. A render sheet, in the font file, makes it more easy to identify on a keyboard. This font is used as variously as web-site titles, posters and flier designs, editing ancient texts... all you need. This font supports easily as large than small size, remaining readable, original and pretty.

Joost Schmidt?s (1893?1948) name is undoubtedly connected with monolinear condensed letters of geometric appearance ? his unfinished draft of a stencil alphabet, constructed on grid paper in 1930, is much lesser known. These modular shapes simply consist of half circles, quarter circles and square strokes with half-round terminals. From just six original letterforms (a, b, c, d, e, g), Flavia Zimbardi completed Schmidt?s draft and extended it to a full character set for contemporary use, adding upper case letters and different figure sets including old-style. Joschmi overcomes legibility issues usually associated with this stencil style, with special attention to the design of white space. Zimbardi lends the face even more character by carefully adding round terminals in subtle spots of the alphabet, accessible through stylistic sets.

Chorus is a collective effort to sing in harmony. Similarly, each letter is designed to reflect harmony when used together to form a letter, sentence or paragraph. Letters like B, D, P and R have curved stroke (instead of straight line) while joining vertical stem. Letter K, k, and R have similar disjoint point in middle and unique plus stylish curve at foot. Letter C and G has distinct horizontal cut at top as compared to other letters in typeface e.g. S. Letter like b, h, m, n, and p have consistent stroke joint style with vertical stem. Ink traps in various letters are designed such that they blend with the letter form at certain degree instead, getting emphasised. The family comes in various styles in weight and width.

Bombay is serif type family by ManVsType. It is ideal to use at larger sizes as a display font. The family comes in 5 weights in 2 styles (normal stem height and low stem height). This font is variable in its weight and "connection" heights in the letters a, b, d, h, m, n, p, q, r and u. The typeface has a number of ligature including an R+s ligature that automatically turns into the ₹ (rupee symbol) to solve a major problem in the Indian subcontinent where people don't know how to type it. Bombay is inspired by the colonial version of the city. The city being a melting pot of all kinds of people. Poets, writers, filmmakers enjoyed the city and it quickly became the cultural hub of the entire country.

Patmos Serif is a hand drawn serif font, inspired by the art of the cyrillic calligraphy, as well as the script of the Greek Orthodox art. The font contains Latin, Greek and Cyrillic alphabets and it is delivered in Opentype and Truetype format. Patmos Serif has a variety of stylistic alternates and classes, titling altrenates, discretionary and standard ligatures and it is fully unicode-mapped (PUA encoded). The standard ligatures of the font are 4 decorative ornaments, that you may add at the end of a word and they match perfectly with the titling alternates. All you have to do is to make sure that ‘standard ligatures’ are activated in your application and then type "d" and a number from 1 to 4.
