To design the font Toppo I was inspired by a You And Me Monthly published by National Magazines Publisher RSW Prasa that appeared from Mai 1960 till December 1973 in Poland. This family contains 6 different styles. In the Toppo family, every variety contains 3 alternative characters with automatic replacement.

Cascadeur is a variable modular sans with 3 axes, a modernistic hommage to space-age typography. It was designed by Peter Bushuev and released in April of 2020. Cascadeur was born from a type design study and went a long way to its final form. The main feature is a structure of the font: it based on 4 lines grid, has very tight spacing to achieve maximum space coverage and set of inventive letterforms. It is also a variable font and has 3 axes: weight, slant, and roundness. Cascadeur has alternates for almost every letter (2-4) so you can find a rhythm and a unique pattern for your design piece. When letterpress started with the Gutenberg Bible, the typeface was like a texture. Before humanism, type did not really need to be legible. The letters were rather drawn in an ornamental way. It filled a space. My idea for Matrona was to create a similar structure. I wanted it to be very bold and still as legible as possible. The result was a headline typeface that can fill spaces. You can even fill it with a picture. Or you create an ornament with contents. There are 3 weights to extend the usage to different sizes.

My wife was watching a baking show in which a Scottish guy attempted to cook a clootie. A what?? A clootie??? Never heard of a clootie! Apparently it is a suet dumpling, containing dried fruits (like raisins) and boiled in a piece of cloth (clootie means ‘rag’ or ‘strip of cloth’ in Scottish). Clootie font is a handmade bundle of happiness. It is rounded, soft and legible and will look particularly good on book covers. And I promise you all: one day I will cook clooties to find out what they taste like!

It seems only fitting that Pleasant Valley Sundae JNL, a typeface re-drawn from hand lettering on a piece of vintage sheet music, should take its name as a pun on another song's title from a different era. "Pleasant Valley Sunday" was a 1967 hit for the Monkees and was written by the legendary songwriting team of Carole King and the late Gerry Goffin; inspired in turn by a street they'd lived on named Pleasant Valley Way, in West Orange, New Jersey. The record made it to #3 on the pop charts.

With all ego aside, Romp was designed and influenced by my daughter, Angel. For some time now, she has wanted me to design a font based on her handwriting. But each time I sit down to do it, I run into more that she needs to do and redo. On a recent attempt, I ran into the same situation again. Instead of moving on to something else, I decided to whip out a sumi brush and start making letters...for me, type design is something a little ‘serious’ and never a time to just have fun. This typeface proved that notion wrong—it really was fun. As a result, each letter encouraged another and the design grew...and grew! The happy result spawned 3 separate sets of letters & numerals (small caps and some ligatures too!). Using the beauty of OpenType, these 3 sets have been fused into one, randomly generating font set. If you are using any type of OpenType enabled application, then the Romp Pro typeface is the way to go. They include everything found in the 3 separate variants for each style as well as entirely expanding offering of additional small cap and ligature sets.

I was doodling away with a sharpie pen on a rainy day. Hey… wait a minute. A rainy day, a font called Rainclouds… Yep, that’s right, it is called Rainclouds for that reason! ;-) Rainclouds is a fat marker font with a lot of texture and a lot of mouth.
