Here’s a set of arrow shaped callouts in two varieties within one font. The black-on-white letters are on the upper case keys, and the white-on-black characters are on the lower case keys. The numerals 1 thru 10 in black-on-white are in the standard key positions, while the white-on-black numbers are on the same keys when engaging the “shift” key. The 'zero' key houses the number '10'. For a more dynamic look, the font is also available in an oblique version.

It is reasonable to assume that a majority of people interested in typography will attempt some variation on the blackletter theme at some time or another. However, there seems to be a paucity of open-faced designs in this style and, having played around with a few thoughts, eventually I came up with RM Whiteletter. Schuss Sans CG Poster Extrabold 1 upright OTF Font Latin extended, Cyrillic and Greek. Specially developed for headline poster display sizes. Elfen-Fraktur is monolinear blackletter typeface, that was originally designed by M. Beck and published in 1919. The Greenbriar numbering scheme is based on the weight and width axes of a multiple master from which the instances are generated. The first number in any of the series (1 through 5) relates to the width The second two numbers (20 through 80, in 20-unit increments) relates to the weight within the width series. Impact wide was developed from the designer's original drawings for the production of 'Impact' metal type, with many detail changes because of the density of the letters. These include the restoration of the bevelled i and j dots of the original. Character maps show some useful alternative characters in both roman and italic. Included are a crossbar numeral 1, mirror quotes and some sorts which were cast in metal but never reproduced in digitized versions of the typeface. There is also a font-specific Euro symbol. (Impact is a trademark of The Type Museum, London).

A slab serif Mr Palker and grotesque Mr Palkerson build one superfamily together.  These are blank types. In a way even the display ones. Typefaces for newspapers, announcements, cheap advertising and police posters.  Mr Palker and Mr Palkerson will turn every language into a fence. And due to six types of faces one can choose what material should the fence be made from — from Thin steel rods to   the Black stone blocks. In their simplest appearance Mrs P&P are  intended for the solid blank composition in victorian or industrial style. They are quite decent, a bit old-fashioned slab serif and grotesque with closed aperture. All my types have layers. Walker and Palkerson also do. Besides the standard set of symbols, they have 4 add-ons. 1. Alternate glyphs, including unicase ones. 2. Ligatures with A letter. 3. Extra tall small caps. 4. Two-storey ligatures. All this options are intended for the complex composition. The additional letters are rather eccentric as their main function here is to imitate the victorian oddities. Imitate, parody, just not repeat. There are lower-case As and Es in the set in height of small caps and uppercases. They can turn every writing into the unicase.    The lower-case A (as well as uppercase and small caps version of it) has deliberately by my taste grown a ludicrous tail. To compensate it I’ve built all the possible ligatures - ад, ал, ая. There are 35 of this ligatures all together. Take a closer look at the Russian letters D, L, K, Ya from the main set as well as their alternates. The additional glyphs are one more comic than the other — on purpose to imitate (not to repeat!) the victorian set. This sets have lowercase numbers. And small caps numbers as well. What a modern typeface without them. They also have an У-letter with a generously curvy tail. As if before the WWI. The Latin of course has alternates as well. It has letters to make the perfect French sound more like the russian provincial version of it. The tails of Js and Ts can be made a little bit more open — or a little bit closed. My favorite feature here, an invention of a kind - extra tall small caps. It allows to compose logos with the small caped uppercases directly from the keyboard. The small caps of this typefaces are usually much taller than the customary ones. This is the kind of small caps that Palker and Palkerson have. More to that, the strokes’ weight and the letters width are corresponded to the uppercases. Just a ready set for making a logo a la 1913 style. With a unicase, one has to mind! One more trick with the tall small caps is a possibility to make them work like lower uppercases. Their height is just in between of lower- and uppercases. Isn’t it great to have an additional set of uppercase working ponies in stock for the case of emergency. And finally — the trademark of Palkers family, two-storey ligatures. They are made in the height of uppercases and turn every writing into an ornament or a puzzle of a kind, while at the same time making them much shorter. Each face has 90 of them. Mainly those are twins: CC, BB, DD and so on. ll this things are for the unhasty compositing, even for lettering. Which means that for the things which are not there you always should have Command+Option+O and some patience. Also — among the two storey ligatures one also can find some belvedere villas. All my types are glasses from the one kaleidoscope. The P&Ps family was preliminary part of the victorian set, which already has 1 Cents and Clarendorf - optionally one can add Costro, Gordoni, Handy, Guardy, Surplus, Red Ring, Red Square, Babaev to the list. And also Sklad, Odessa, Dreamland, Romb, Platinum - here, at Letterhead’s, every second one is victorian. The dearJoe series of fonts had it’s origin somewhere around 1999, the year I created dearJoe 1, which was a first (and half-assed) attempt at converting my own handwriting into a working font. Being able to type in my own handwriting had always been a childhood fantasy, and even though I only partly understood the software, a working font was generated and I decided to put it on the internet for people to use. And that’s what they did: at this moment the dearJoe 1 font has been downloaded millions of times and can be found on just about anything, ranging from Vietnamese riksjas, a Tasmanian gym to a fancy chocolate store on 5th Avenue. The font is not something I am particularly proud of, but it started me of in building what later became the JOEBOB graphics font foundry. Inbetween creating other fonts, the dearJoe series has become a theme I revisit every once in a while, trying to create an update on how my handwriting evolved, along with my abilities in creating fonts that mimic actual handwriting. In the last decade or so I started implementing ligatures and alternate characters, which helped a lot in making something that can almost pass for actual handwriting.

Darmhagh Underwood is a “rough” monowidth font based on the face used on the old Underwood manual typewriter. Darmhagh Underwood was first digitized in 1999 by Michael Everson and originally used the MacGaelic character set on the Macintosh platform, and ISO/IEC 8859-14 on the PC. In 2008 Darmhagh Underwood version 3 was released in OpenType format, completely compliant with Unicode encoding and with an extended character set. The particular Underwood typewriter from which samples were taken to design Darmhagh Underwood is on display in the National Library of Ireland. It belonged to Conradh na Gaeilge and was used to draft armistice documentation which led to the end of the Irish War of Independence in 1921. Darmhagh is pronounced [ˈdaɾuː].

This font would be perfect for both texts and titles, and pairs beautifully with other fonts already in your library, especially handwritten and serif fonts. The resultant texture is lively but not intrusive, and makes for a friendly and readable text. Yet again, a font inspired by my work as a kindergarten teacher! The other day, I had a conversation with some of the kids, about what they ate for breakfast. Some had oatmeal, some bread and others yogurt. But this kid - he insisted that every morning, his mother would serve him cookies, “morning cookies”. It sounded too good to be true, and when I asked his mother, it turned out that “cookies” were actually bread, but to make it sound more appetising, they called it cookies! The letters are rounded and in some way quite naive, but still clear and legible. With an extreme ascender and descender, the font stands out with its oddities. I’ve added 3 different versions of each lowercase letter!

Blue Sugar is a grunge font which has one letter-shape in white set within a different grunge letter-shape in black. The Regular and Dirty versions have their characters in conventionally upright positions; and there are 3 varieties with the characters in various states of disorder and at slightly varied angles and sizes - called Twirled and Whirled. The Mixed Caps version introduces no new characters, but combines straight capitals and jumbled capitals in the same font, for convenience, in which Upper Case A-Z displays conventional upright Capitals, and lower case a-z displays jumbled Capitals. The package contains both OTF and TTF versions - install either OTF or TTF, not both versions of a font on the same machine.

Linotype Bix Plain, from Argentinian designer Victor Luis Garcia, is part of the Take Type Library, chosen from the entries of the 1999 International Digital Type Design Contest for inclusion on the Take Type 3 CD. The font is composed exclusively of capital letters. The figures have constructed basic forms and show the influence of the advertisement types of the 1920s, with all their well-mannered details. The lower sections of the graceful letters are white and set against a black background, the upper sections are black on white. This makes the overall picture look as though written on stripes and gives the delicate letter stability. The nostalgic-modern Linotype Bix Pleain is best for headlines in point sizes of 18 or larger.

Inspired by the elegance of Herman Zapf’s designs crossed with the readability of early 20th century Gothic fonts by Morris Fuller Benton, 19-PRA is a sans-serif with a visible stroke contrast and a humanist tone of voice. Consisting of 3 weights, with accompanying cursive inspired italics, this family is suited for a wide range of applications such as branding that will expose its defined personality or editorial design were it can be used for both display titles or text. This family supports a range of Opentype features, offering multiple numeral styles, ligatures and other alternate glyphs. With an extended Latin glyph set, it will support most Latin based languages.

As as a computer programmer, it is my job to stare at screens of text all day. For my first font, I completed a simple monospaced font, Debug, based on my own handwriting. Mickey Mono is much more ambitious: I wanted a humanist design - something with organic curves. It had to be clean and fresh. It had to have the advantages of Debug, like distinctive numerals (to distinguish between 8 and 3) and huge punctuation characters (so I could read complicated Perl one liners). Mickey Mono would be a good friend to me as I struggled through difficult coding tasks. It has a wide range of Latin Extended characters and diacritics, so it can speak French, Portuguese, and Ruby. “Byblos” is the name of a town in Lebanon and the name of a famous hotel in St. Tropez. Some time ago I discovered their original logo in an old french magazine, just 5 by 3 centimeters small without any text, address, telephone number not even a picture. They did not need that, that’s how famous the hotel and its old logo was. Well they abandoned their identity when the place was sold to a big chain – I think. But the logotype, just those five letters inspired me to this new font. It evokes times past and has a little Bauhaus in it – as well as a really modern touch, all depends on the way you use it.
