YahoschWormy is one of rare results that was interesting enough to save and clean up. The source font was Yahosch.

I like playing around with brushes and Chinese ink. I always have some kind of idea of what the final design should look like, but once it’s done, it never ever looks like what I had in mind. Apex Brush is one of those designs: it started off as a few brush strokes, but before I knew it, I had a really nice set of matching brush fonts! KampIngriana was originally constructed in 1995-6. It was not constructed to meet any specific purpose but out of curiosity, to see what the result would be if two quite different faces were blended. KampIngriana is the offspring of Ingriana, a friendly, soft face, and KampFriendship, which mimics a serifed face drawn by hand. The original blending had many oddities that I did not clean up until 2020. It originally had five styles: regular, italic, bold, bolditalic, and extrabold. Medium, mediumitalic, semibold, semibolditalic, and extraboldItalic were added in 2022.

Apple Juice has a straightforward, childlike simplicity, but has been divided in the middle to create a bottom-heavy contrast. Kids welcome!

A personal handwriting done in pencil. Conté Script is a computer font but has the extraordinary look of handwriting. The typeface is exceedingly lively, diversified and distinct thanks to more than 300 different ligatures, i.e. letter combinations. In addition to the letter combinations in Conté Script, there are also double letters and figures included (aa, ff, AA, MM, 22, 66…) as ligatures with stylistic alternates. Type set in Conté Script appears remarkably similar to a text actually handwritten with a pencil. The typical style of the pencil — crumbliness where pressure lessens and the deep darkness where the pressure of the graphite in it's fullest denseness smudges — is another earmark of Conté Script. The font appears to be written quickly, fleetingly, casually, as if not really to be taken seriously, and as if it would be written one minute and erased the next. Conté Script looks most ”authentic“ around the point size of 18 to 22.

FONT STORY The Majestic Caps When I was on one of my visits to rare books rooms I found some large caps of Hermann Zapf, and I knew that I had to make a font inspired by these. I was surprised that no one had ever made them into a font. They were some of the most beautiful caps I had ever seen. These caps were surprisingly difficult to make. I thought it would take me a week or two; to get the detail and spirit right took significantly longer– but it was well worth the effort! When you print Hermanz Titling on a page, you will see what I mean. Even when printed digitally, it’s the closest thing to letterpress. You might even have some people thing it was printed by a traditional method with ink! (Note: Unless printed at very large sizes, this font is not recommended for actual letterpress, because the serifs are too thin.) Goth icon and Saturday Night Live voice-over talent, Nicole Blackman grew up surrounded by design; her dad and her sister are architects, her mom is a retired fashion designer and her grandfather invented clip art. “No lie, Volk Clip Art in NJ,” she says. “Herb Lubalin designed his logo!” Sharing her grandfather’s fondness for fonts, Ms. Blackman created this alphabet. Her creativity sparked this lanky lettering’s theatrical nature in all caps and its supple beauty in upper and lower cases. Final fontification and adjustments were done by Chank Diesel. Blackman drew the original art for the alphabet in 1997; the newest version of the font was completed in 2006. Enjoy this seductive and stylish hand-drawn font.

Even though the phrase Art Nouveau originated in Paris at the shop of Siegfried Bing, the French preferred to call it Le style moderne. This very sinuous, very Art Nouveau typeface was designed by an E. Mulier around 1894, probably also in Paris. The organic, vine-like curve forms are frequently seen in the art of the period. Examples include the architecture of Victor Horta, the furniture of Henry van de Velde and the jewelry of Max Gradl. Mulier Moderne is an all-cap font with a full Western European character set plus ST and TH ligatures, an alternate ‘E’ and two glyphs of period printer’s cuts. Warning: do not use for extended text. Duh!

Straits is an oddball fun ALL-CAPS font, a modern take / re-imagining of some old Art Deco signage and a sister to my other font Penang. The font is available in 2 weights for now, a light and a medium. In general I think ALL-CAPS steal 26 characters from you, so each letter in each case is a little different, however subtly. This being an ALL-CAPS font I imagine it will work best in Headlines and other bold statements, but buy it and find out. The font is loaded with plenty of extras and glyphs. This was designed to be fun, so I hope you can have some with it.

Metal Cry is a font family that was inspired by countless hours spent playing video games, watching old movies or reading comic books. And even more hours closely analysing the design of all these things. The art of creating beautiful letters has slowly declined with the rise of the digital age and its solid-colour, 2D fonts. And most of the time, the care given to typography in cultural products just isn't what it used to be anymore. This was the inspiration for Metal Cry, a family of 4 layerable fonts that can bring a feeling of depth to its letters, and offers endless possible combinations. Metal Cry Outlands is the basic shape of all the characters, it can be used as the bright side of the bevel. Metal Cry Front is the inline border font that can be used as the front side of the bevel. Metal Cry Shadow can be used as the dark side of the bevel. Metal Cry Depth can be used to flash out the inside shape of the letter. In order to give new imput to the art of typeface design in Italy, Nebiolo Company held, in March 1910, an artistic competition for a new alphabet conception, so the best-ranked design would be transformed into a real new typeface. 42 competitors participated and, although the first prize was not technically awarded, "Ancora" resulted as the best typeface, created by the designer-typographer Natale Varetti of Turin. Nonetheless, the new alphabet was transformed into a full-fledged metal typeface in 1924, renamed "Tanagra" in honor of the Greek city in the center of Boeotia. The new font, although not significantly detached from the classical Roman form, introduced decorative elements that allowed its use in both rational and artistic compositions. This font appears very clear and easy to read, with very high ascenders and some decorations that make it distinctly retrò. Finally, after almost 100 years, this peculiar character has been digitized taking it as a model the shapes of the 16 points size (other dimensions have significantly different contrasts and proportions). To adapt it to modern use, some glyphs have been modified, but all the originals are available as Stylistic Alternate OTF, as well as all the swashed variants while the missing ones were added.

A Geometrical font. This idea flashed to me in one of the boring classes we had in college. Since its my special masterpiece we come really cheap at its price of just $8.

Günter Jäntsch designed Pierrot in 1973. Its irregular flowing letterforms express the design from this time, where many personal irregular designs had been made. Pierrot is suitable for invitation cards, posters and signage.

Zimric is a family with 28 styles. It has the look of neat hand printing. It is monoline and sans-serif, friendly and legible. The Zimric family has three widths, each width has four or five weights, and each weight comes in both upright and italic styles.

Intended mainly for invitations, Galana is available in 4 styles: Uno, Dos, Tres, and Alt. The first three styles use the Open-Type ligature function for a better legibility. Alt style was thought for those who love swashes and flourishes. Galana was designed to look elegant and sentimental, each glyph being unique and hard to forget.

This narrow neoclassical revival is based upon a font released by the Haenel Foundry, Berlin, in the 19th century. By typing [alt] + p respectively [alt] + b you have access to a framing element as it can be seen on the posters. By using the OT feature stylistic alternative you can change the normal numbersign into an oldstyle numero sign.

I loved the look of this font so much that I couldn't resist reworking it - although it probably had the most basic character set I've ever used as a starting point. But here it is in its complete, professional, multilingual state. I hope this wonderful swashbuckling font now finds many new users and uses. Celebrate! The letterforms, especially the Script style are very self-indulgent for me, dare I say Hedonistic, and how I like to see letter masses taken to extreme contrast. The series unapologetically channels Herb Lubalin, but produced with a deliberate, contemporary twist. There is an intentional slyness infused in the letterforms—the extreme thick and thin lines flow effortlessly without becoming gratuitous. It’s always just enough, not too much. What makes the type series so appealing? The curves. When asked to describe the letterforms, most people unwittingly allude to the human form, using adjectives usually reserved for describing physical traits… creating all-too-familiar comparisons. Summerour has grown to accept this as unavoidable and reasonable given his acknowledgement of its influences and has provided nuances within the letterforms to accentuate that.

The first cuts of Kabel appeared in 1927, released by the German foundry Gebr. Klingspor. Like many of the typefaces that Rudolf Koch designed for printing use, Kabel is a carefully constructed and drawn. The basic forms were influenced by the Ancient Roman stone-carved letters, which consisted of just a few pure and clear geometric forms, such as circles, squares, and triangles. Koch also infused Kabel with some elements of Art Deco, making it appear quite different from other geometric modernist typefaces from the 1920s, like Futura. Linotype has two versions of Kabel in its library. Kabel has a shorter x-height, with longer ascenders and descenders, making it a bit truer to Koch's original design than the second version, ITC Kabel, which was designed by Victor Caruso. This version, also known in the United States as Cable, has a larger x-height, shorter ascenders and descenders, more weights ,and a diamond shaped i-dot. Typefaces in the same oeuvre include Avenir Next, ITC Avant Garde Gothic, Metrolite, Metromedium, Metroblack, and Erbar, just to name just a few."

An isolated letters display typeface design which emphasizes the vertical stems and has an overall Arabian tales and oriental look and feel. All letters start with a prominent vertical stem shaped as pirate sword and ends in very narrow stroke. Banan font family has two members, regular and left-slanted italic styles. This font family design follows the guidelines of Mutamathil Taqlidi type style with one glyph for every basic Arabic Unicode character or letter, as defined in the latest Unicode Standards, and one additional final form glyph, for the freely-connecting letters in traditional Arabic cursive text. Banan employs variable x-height values. It includes only the Lam-Alif ligatures. Soft-vowel diacritic marks, harakat, are selectively positioned. Most of them appear by default on the same level, following a letter, to ensure that they would not interfere visually with letters. Tatweel is a zero-width glyph. Keying the tatweel key before Alif-Lam-Lam-Ha will display the Allah ligature. Banan includes both Arabic and Arabic-Indic numerals, in addition to standard punctuations.
