The Tazugane Gothic typeface family is the first original Japanese typeface created by Monotype. Designed by Akira Kobayashi, Kazuhiro Yamada and Ryota Doi of the Monotype Studio, the Tazugane Gothic typeface offers ten weights and was developed to complement the classic Latin typeface, Neue Frutiger. The design of the Tazugane Gothic typeface balances an original, humanistic style with elements of traditional Japanese handwriting. The two typefaces work together in a natural, seamless and adaptable manner so that Japanese and Latin texts can be used side-by-side for a wide range of applications, including in magazines, books and other print media; on digital devices; in branding and corporate identity systems; and in signage for buildings, highways and mass transit. Tazugane Gothic was updated to support the “Reiwa” new era symbol. Reiwa can be written as two kanji: 令和. This update to Tazugane Gothic includes Reiwa designed as a single ligature and is encoded as U+32FF. The inspiration for the Tazugane Gothic typeface is as elegant as its design. Since antiquity, cranes have been regarded in East Asia as auspicious birds for their noble appearance and elegance in flight. The typeface is named Tazugane Gothic in honor of the longevity of the crane, with the goal that it will be used for many years to come. The combination of the Tazugane Gothic typefaces’ traditional and humanistic elements, along with its intended ability to complement popular Latin typefaces, makes it one of the most uniquely flexible designs for applications where Japanese and Latin texts can be used together. The typeface family was created to have wide appeal, with a pleasing and consistent experience for readers, for use on screen, in print, in signage, packaging and advertising. Tazugane Gothic has 10 weights. The Light, Book, Regular, Medium and Bold weights are considered best for text sizes. The Ultra Light, Thin, Heavy, Black and Extra Black weights are recommended for headline sizes.

The Azbuka™ typeface family has its roots in a fairly pedestrian source. “The idea came in part from an old sign in London that read ‘SPRINKLER STOP VALVE’,” says Dave Farey, designer of the typeface. Like all good sign spotters, Farey took a photograph of the sign and filed it away for possible use in a lettering or typeface design project. In Prague a number of years later, the street signs reminded Farey of the London signage - and his camera came out again. Comparing the two back in his studio, he realized that the signs from London and Prague were not as similar as he initially thought. However, they were enough alike to serve as the foundation for a no-frills, 21st century sans serif typeface family. “I wanted to draw a wide range of weights, italic and condensed designs all in one go,” recalls Farey, “rather than add on to the family later.” His goal was to create a family that could be used for text and display copy, with sufficient weights to provide a broad typographic palette. Indeed, the completed design, created in collaboration with fellow type designer Richard Dawson, consists of twenty typefaces in eight weights ranging from extra light to extra black. The five mid-range designs have complementary italics. Seven condensed designs round out the family. Azbuka’s lighter weights perform remarkably well in blocks of text composition. “They’re clean and legible - and perhaps a little boring,” says Farey, “but they are perfect for copy with a down-to-earth, yet contemporary flavor.” The heavier weights are equally well suited for a variety of display uses. The designs are authoritative but not overbearing and will readily make a strong statement without calling attention to themselves. The condensed weights of Azbuka are ideal for those instances where you have a lot to say - and not much room to say it. The name Azbuka? It’s Russian for “alphabet.” And what more appropriate name could there be for this utilitarian, industrial-strength type family than alphabet? Welcome Home JNL gets its inspiration from metal letters and numbers affixed to homes, posts and mailboxes in the 1920s and 1930s. The block style of lettering that was silk screened onto enameled rectangles of steel was especially popular during that time period. This font has a limited character set.

Here's a simple little retro font that got its inspiration from a food vending truck pictured in a local newspaper's online article. Fun and retro, Food Vendor JNL evokes simpler times. The font is a basic character set, with a blank diamond on the equal sign keystroke for spacing or embellishment.

An unusual blend of block and script letterforms, based on poster lettering for an Italian fashion house of the same name, designed by Wilman Schiroli in 1935, and notable for its very jolly lowercase c. Both versions of the font include 1252 Latin, 1250 CE (with localization for Romanian and Moldovan).

Label Machine JNL is Jeff Levine's take on the embossed labels popularly used for years as a marking and identifying method. This font has a limited character set. On the left bracket is a wide blank for label ends, and the right bracket has a narrower space for use between words.

Here's yet another variation of the classic Futura Black Art Deco stencil form of display lettering. The inspiration for this typeface came from various images of the Blossom Dairy Co. restaurant, originally opened as an ice cream and sandwich shop located on Quarrier Street in Charleston, West Virginia. The restaurant first opened in 1938 as an outgrowth of the Blossom Dairy Co. itself, and existed under various ownerships until it permanently closed on Nov. 11, 2016. Digitally redrawn as Local Eatery JNL, it is available in both regular and oblique versions.

Mak is a display font with a Ukrainian feeling inspired by Ukrainian music. This is a big update of the first free two styles of Mak (SemiBold High & Black High) that were created in 2019 and become widespread among free display fonts. The big update wasn't been only adding more weights and contrasts but also changing a lot of glyphs and adding new ones. Now Mak supports all Latin-based languages and European Cyrillic. Experiments with historical forms, contrasts, and daring shapes to create a new image of Ukrainian Cyrillic and Latin based on it.

Plastilin type family of two weights obtained its name due to the soft, curved, stroke terminals of characters (J, K, L, R and others) and the little pointed serifs, as if extruded from stroke plastic mass. The character set has a lot of additional Latin and Cyrillic ligatures, as well as several alternate letter forms. Plastilin was designed for ParaType by Oleg Karpinsky in 2005. It is for use both in display setting and short text passages. In 2008 the author added two weights (Light and Black) and improved letterforms of some characters.

Dutch type designer Alex Scholing created this script FontFont in 2003. The family has 10 weights, ranging from Light to Black (including italics) and is ideally suited for advertising and packaging, festive occasions, logo, branding and creative industries as well as small text. FF Roice provides advanced typographical support with features such as small capitals, alternate characters, case-sensitive forms, fractions, super- and subscript characters, and stylistic alternates. It comes with a complete range of figure set options – oldstyle and lining figures, each in tabular and proportional widths.

Operandi is geometric sans family available in 6 weights inspired with vintage posters design from period between two great wars. Unpretentious family guided by simple design solutions – slightly wide by its character, decently recognizable, fully capable to lead any project – Operandi offers combination of functionality and visual balance that should be enough to recommend it as right choice. From Light to Black, packed in extended Latin character map, Operandi also contains a few OpenType features such as Ligatures, Fractions and 2x Stylistic Sets – one for complete uppercase alternatives and one for “a” and “g”.

This is a display version of a stylized sans serif font family that is very high-waisted and sleek called Bergsland Fashion. This four-font set has a Regular and a Black plus the italics. The stroke is only slightly modulated. The letterforms are higher, with a more open aperture, and sprinkled with breaks to add light and sparkle. This an attempt at a readable sans serif for text. It has many OpenType features and 465 characters per font: Caps, lower case, small caps, old style figures, numerators, denominators, accents characters and so on.

Montesori is inspired by the economic forms and large x-height with a condensed style and a humanistic-grotesque typeface forms. It is a perfect option for editorial projects, branding, logos and packaging. Montesori comes in a variety of nine weights (Fine, Extra Light, Ultra Light, Light, Regular, Semi Bold, Bold, Ultra Bold and Black) with its two styles (round and italic) classified in two forms, Basic and Alternative. In addition, its case-sensitive shapes, ordinals, scientific inferiors, denominators, superscripts, subscripts, numerators, fractions... make it ideal for posters or infographics.

Dutch type designer Just van Rossum created this sans FontFont in 1991. The family contains 4 weights: Light, Regular, Bold, and Black and is ideally suited for advertising and packaging projects. FF Advert provides advanced typographical support with features such as ligatures, alternate characters, case-sensitive forms, fractions, super- and subscript characters, and stylistic alternates. It comes with a complete range of figure set options – oldstyle and lining figures, each in tabular and proportional widths. This FontFont is a member of the FF Advert super family, which also includes FF Advert Rough.

The Atoxina family is designed especially for the burgeoning market of starships and other space cruisers. The fonts are ideal for internal and external use (including zero-g and occasional bursts of cosmic rays), and with their simplified forms are expected to survive well in non-linear galaxies. With their unusual diagonal half-pixels the fonts are striking as abstract designs at astronomical sizes, where small text may be placed within the black holes formed inside the letters. The typeface is available in two different styles: Atoxina (regular) and Btoxina (italic).

Oliva & Oliva Italic are two strong and funky display fonts. Influences came from typefaces like Futura Black by Paul Renner and Motter Ombra by Othmar Motter, but also Stilla by François Boltana and Allegro by Hans Bohn lay on the desk. All these ingredients were mixed to a new and contemporary type experience and packed in proper OpenType files Oliva & Oliva Italic are OpenType Pro, featuring full Western, Central European, Baltic, Turkish and also Cyrillic language support. They contain ligatures, superior numerals, and a stylish set of decorative ornaments and arrows.

Canadian type designer Silvio Napoleone created this sans FontFont in 2004. The family has 20 weights, ranging from Light to Black in Normal and Extended (including italics) and is ideally suited for book text, editorial and publishing, logo, branding and creative industries as well as small text. FF Hydra provides advanced typographical support with features such as ligatures, alternate characters, case-sensitive forms, fractions, and super- and subscript characters. It comes with a complete range of figure set options – oldstyle and lining figures, each in tabular and proportional widths.

Swissra is an Arabic typeface that was inspired from Swiss graphic design. The motivation behind the typeface was to create a neutral and carefully crafted Arabic font family that can be used on many different applications. Swissra also aspires to tribute the experience of Swiss graphic design and pass it on to the Arabic graphic design scene. Swissra features sharply cut terminals, which are either horizontal or vertical. It also features closed apretures and a high x-height. It comes with eight weights, that range from thin to black.

Frygia is inspired by the astonishing mythology along with a new method and approach of type design. As an example, the construction of the lowercase g; the line structure which is slightly curved helps to aid the optical illusion and the integration of Industrial San Serif style making Frygia extremely compatible and ready for every usage on the layout. VASARELY has famous roots, its name is related to optical arts own Victor Vasarely. Dropping the field of Op-Art, you already know where we have been aiming at. The REGULAR and LIGHT cuts of VASARELY are quite ordinary, rectangular, but legible typefaces, but with the BOLD and EXTRABOLD versions you will be able to build diverse illusive type illustrations and layouts. Slovakian type designer Peter Bil'ak created this sans FontFont in 2001. Ljubljana was inspired by art deco lettering seen in Slovenia, Croatia and Romania. It includes the Latin, Greek, and Cyrillic alphabets. It is named after the capital of Slovenia. Ljubljana is unicase, composed of as few basic glyphs as possible. The basic glyphs are shown in black, and the derived or duplicated glyphs in grey. Ljubljana attempts to encapsulate the essence of both upper and lower case designs in a single glyph. It also explores the common origins of the Greek, Latin, and Cyrillic alphabets, using the same glyph in more than one alphabet.

There was a big climate protest in Amsterdam a couple of days ago. During Greta’s speech, a man jumped onto the stage and grabbed her microphone, because he didn’t approve of what she was saying. Some English media referred to him as ‘the stage invader’, which I really liked. Long story short: I made a ‘protest-ish’ font, using cheap black finger paint from the local store and a brush from my kids. The result is a rather unique font called Stage Invader. And yes, you can use it for your protest signs too!

Leksa is an oldstyle, even a bit old-fashioned text family in 12 faces, including six upright and six italic ones, from Light to Black, with both oldstyle and tabular digits and true small caps. The typeface works best in the books of classical style, and looks good in both small and large point sizes. One of the main features of the typeface is its professionally-designed Cyrillic which (together with sans-serif companion Leksa Sans) was awarded for excellence in type design at Modern Cyrillic competition in Superfamilies category.

Kanvas is a flowing calligraphy script. The typeface was drawn and created by Måns Grebäck between 2017 and 2020. Its flowing shapes are inherited from mid-century advertising, being soft and friendly while retaining a sturdy forward movement.
