Barceloneta is a simple sans-serif font, with heavy bold and very characteristic soaring accents, referring to the shape of sharp towers in the building standing in the very center of Barcelona, designed by Gaudí - the Sagrada Familia. PeterPierre is a stiff, awkward sans serif face. It has little variation in stroke width and the vertical and horizontal elements are connected with short, sharp curves. The condensed style was developed first and then, in a quest for legibility, it was widened into the regular style.

The sheet music for "Good Night Angel" from the 1937 motion picture "Radio City Revels", had the movie's title hand lettered in a free form Art Deco sans serif design. This has been recreated digitally as Reveler JNL, which is available in both regular and oblique versions.

One example in the 1919 instructional book “One Hundred Alphabets for the Show Card Writer” was for an elegant sans serif with a subtle Art Nouveau style to the letter forms. This is now available digitally as Show Card Elite JNL in both regular and oblique versions.

The first Clarendon was introduced in 1845 by R Besley & Co, The Fan Street Foundry, as a general purpose bold for use in conjunction with other faces in works such as dictionaries. In some respects, Clarendon can be regarded as a refined version of the Egyptian style and as such can be used for text settings, although headline and display work is more usual. Clarendon is a trademark of Linotype GmbH registered in the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office and may be registered in certain other jurisdictions.

The headline across the October 7, 1918 edition of the UK’s Daily Mail stated: "Germany Asks the Allies for Peace". Set in extrabold sans serif lettering, it’s now available digitally as Tabloid Edition JNL in both regular and oblique versions. The Republic Gothic series was among the last original wood type designs manufactured by Hamilton Manufacturing Co. It was first shown in Hamilton's New Gothic Faces in Wood Type (c. 1920). We saw its potential and expect it to be a million seller, just like our other typefaces. VLNL Sardines comes in 42 different variations, like rough and clean cuts, regular and condensed widths (condensed is the exactly half of the regular width). Sprout is a low-contrast sans serif, slightly condensed for economy of space, and complete with 6 weights in Roman and Italic. It has open apertures and a generous x-height for clarity of reading. It also comes with a weight balanced italic, which can be used for differentiation or as a standalone typeface in itself. The defining feature of the family is the taut curve, where the inner counter pushes out toward the outer contour, creating a feeling of tension in the curve. “Nusaibah” is the first name of an early convert woman to Islam, and the first female to fight in defense of the Islamic religion. A very expanded sans serif font in capital letters inspired by the inscription on a bank note Old bank notes tend to have a very typical typography. Usually they carry decorative and elaborately designed markings. For one thing, they must be practically impossible to forge and for another, they should make a respectable and legitimate impression. And in the days of copper and steel engravings, that meant nothing less than creating ornate, shaded or otherwise complicated scripts. Designing the appropriate script was literally in the hands of the engraver. That’s why I noticed this bank note from 1948. It is the first 20 mark bill in the then newly created currency ”Deutsche Mark.“ All other bank notes of the 1948 series show daintier forms of typography with an obvious tendency toward modern face. The 1949 series which followed shortly thereafter reveals the more complicated script as well. For whatever reason, only this 20 mark bill displays this extremely expanded sans serif variation of the otherwise Roman form applied. This peculiarity led me in the year 2010 to create a complete font from the single word ”Banknote.“ Back to those days in the 40’s, the initial edition of DM bank notes was carried out by a special US-American printer who was under pressure of completing on time and whose engravers not only engraved but also designed. So that’s why the bank notes resemble dollars and don’t even look like European currency. That also explains some of the uniquely designed characters when looked at in detail. Especially the almost serif type form on the letters C, G, S and Z, but also L and T owe their look to the ”American touch.“ The ingoFont Banknote 1948 comprises all characters of the Latin typeface according to ISO 8859 for all European languages including Turkish and Baltic languages. In order to maintain the character of the original, the ”creation“ of lower case letters was waived. This factor doesn’t contribute to legibility, but this kind of type is not intended for long texts anyway; rather, it unfolds its entire attraction when used as a display font, for example on posters. Banknote 1948 is also very suitable for distortion and other alien techniques, without too much harm being done to the characteristic forms. With Banknote 1948 ingoFonts discloses a font like scripts which were used in advertising of the 1940’s and 50’s and were popular around the world. But even today the use of this kind of font can be expedient, especially considering how Banknote 1948, for its time of origin, impresses with amazingly modern detail.
