While uniqueness might be considered the main goal among type designers, our goal in this project was to be as far away from that uniqueness as possible. We designed MB Grotesk with strictest typography standards, holding fast to the type axioms long understood from the beginning of modern typography. After more than 600 hours of work — creation, production & release — the whole typeface family the MB Grotesk is a flawless branching away from the original Grotesque category. Included are 351 standard glyphs designed with geometric rules and grotesque type theories. MB Grotesk has 7 weights & their italics. It supports many languages including most languages which use both Latin and Cyrillic alphabets. We are looking toward extending this family to include condensed, extended & Arabic versions as soon as possible.

One of the charming features of vintage wood type is the unusual interplay of stroke widths or letter shapes that can vary from character to character. When I started working on this font, I had the radio on. Ed Sheeran was singing his song ‘Castle On The Hill’ and when I looked at this new font of mine, I couldn’t help but notice it had a bit of a medieval look. So I named it Castle On The Hill. COTH is a very lively, messy handpainted serif. It was made with a Japanese brush pen. I actually had a different look in mind, but this is what came out of the pen and I quite liked its looks. It is especially useful for children’s book covers, apps and posters, but be my guest and use it as you like. All it needs is a designers’ touch, a nice tune and a sunset.

Niccolo Niccoli (1364-1437) was a wealthy bibliophile and an acclaimed scribe, in Florence (Italy). He was one of the most important Italian calligrapher in this early time of rediscovering Roman script. Of rare accomplishment was his adaptation of the so called Italian humanistic minuscule script. We were inspired from his late work to create this present Font. We have added a lot of accented and other characters (U/V, I/J...) who was not existing in the original and replacing "long s" by a small "s" for a modern use. The OTF encoding was used for intelligent alternates, permitting to use different forms of the same lower case or capital in a single word, reproducing easily the charming variety of a real manual scripture.

Hard Rain is named after the torrential thunderstorms that occur in the subtropical regions on the east coast of southern Africa -- the land of the Zulu. During the two-month long rainy season the steamy downpour usually lasts for a few days, and is then followed by the welcoming sun. The diagonal stripes represent the heavy drops of water that drench everything they touch. The resulting font has something of a grunge look to it. As with other grunge fonts, Hard Rain is best used for posters and display work. However, the crisp edges mean that it can be very readable even if used at a small size. Unlike most grunge fonts, Hard Rain has a full character set and this greatly extends its usability.

Trithemius, a 15th century Abbott, and influential counselor to Emperor Maximilian I, was also an author who wrote both histories and the first printed work on cryptography which gained him much adverse notoriety. He has been long regarded as a mystic and some of his works were therefore banned. However, it may have been his intention to cloak his cryptology essays in mystical writing to keep people from easily grasping the subject matter, which it has been recently demonstrated, at heart was really cryptological methodology. This font is based on a printed version of the Polygraphiae -- a text that included many methods of encryption. The examplar for this font in that text was described as anothor method of Alchemists recording secrets.

Arboria has been a long-term project. Starting with the commission of a custom ‘architect’ font, this typeface has been changing over the years to its current form, which is its public debut. The source is named after the capital of planet Mongo, a futuristic city with art decó influences in their buildings. Arboria maintains that tension but is influenced by all elements of concern to his author. The result is a hybrid Grotesque with nods to the XXII century. ITC Dartangnon is a work of English designer Nick Cooke and began with the thought, It's a long shot but it might just work as a font." It started as a doodle with a chunky pencil. "So many script fonts look too stylized so I thought I'd try to produce one that looks more like handwriting." He scanned the doodles and used Fontographer to draw a set of monoline letters. "Working quickly I soon drew the whole alphabet, and without being too pedantic about the characters joining exactly, I arrived at this script." ITC Dartangnon is an energetic font which remains legible even in small point sizes. And, Cooke adds, "It is supposed to be used as upper and lowercase only, NEVER just caps.""

Think of Garamouche as Garamond's drunken cousin. This font replicates a long lost document ravaged by time and the elements (with a little sloppy printing for good measure.) Ghimli Sans was created using the ping-pong method, based on the graphic idea of Artem Rulev and the participation of Vladimir Anosov after. Then we sent the font file to each other, adding something of our own and making corrections, and so on many times. Ghimli Sans has already managed to get 2nd place in the Granshan competition in the Cyrillic section. The name was obtained by combining the name of the dwarf Gimli and Studio Ghibli. The font is quite friendly, dense, kind, as if a dwarf is walking around the lawn with a mug of intoxicated ale on a pleasant sunny day. Suitable for short word design, logo creation, menu layout and use in movies about gnomes and anything fantastic.

Years ago, I developed an interest in the Japanese art of dwarfed potted trees, bonsai. I bought some books on the subject from Brooklyn Botanic Garden. In one -- Handbook on Bonsai: Special Techniques (seventh printing, February 1976) -- the type was bad. Old worn lead type, I suspect, spread wide in the tops of characters and disappearing on the bottoms. Two decades later, I came across my Brooklyn Botanic Garden collection and was struck again by this interesting type. Inspired, I made a typeface. Didn't take me long to decide on a name for it, either: a name with a double-meaning, based both on its look and its inspiration. Bonsai, the typeface, has two styles, a roman and a true italic.

The German poet, painter, calligrapher and type designer Emil Rudolf Weiß originally created this eponymous typeface for the Bauer Foundry of Frankfurt. Long known and loved by metal type enthusiasts under the name "Weiss Antiqua," this design was inspired by typefaces from the Italian Renaissance while still distinctly reflecting the artistic and poetic personality of its twentieth-century designer. Weiss has tall ascenders, sharp apex points, and a low-slung midsection on the caps. The italic moves like a classical ballerina. Weiss is one of the earliest contemporary serif types to have italics based on the chancery style of writing. The Weiss family works well for warmly legible text typography; and it's also an original choice for refined headline and display graphics."

Compact sans, ideal for setting long texts in small or very small type sizes: for packaging, instruction booklets, drug information leaflets and anything else that has to be legible at very small sizes. Lean and rhythmical, designed ideally to be used at less than 8 points (Brevier was the old typefounders’ name for 8-point type), Brevier holds up well even under adverse printing conditions. The apparently geometric letterforms hide Renaissance characteristics, the x-height and openings are very generous and the strokes slightly modulated. In order to offset ink spread – which is inevitable when printing very small sizes of type – Brevier has large white spaces between the letters. All internal angles have deep ink traps and many connections have been left open.

Cantiga is a monophonic song or melody, sometimes repetitive, often with unpretentious themes. In the same simplicity, this font family combines robustness with some very fine details, with 44 versions for various purposes. Choose thinner (or thicker) versions for titles, and intermediate versions (normal, medium, etc.) to small sizes. Explore the condensed versions when you need to save space. The Cantiga family consists of 2 widths (normal and condensed) with 11 weights each, plus their respective italic versions. Ni is a kind of typographic love letter, revealed in three distinct, yet close, type formulas. Ingram BT might be described as Deco, or Arts & Crafts, in style. Created by Alex Marshall, it is a very condensed design with high-waisted uppercase glyphs that feature dots rather than straight lines for the middle hairlines. There are two sets of alternate glyphs accessible via stylistic and contextual OpenType features. The contextual alternates offer the most interesting glyph substitutions. There are also oldstyle and tabular figures, superiors and inferiors, as well as unlimited fractions. Ingram is a very handsome, casual typeface, with a slightly rough finish. One of the earliest Monotype faces, issued about 1906 in two weights, normal and semibold. Based on Schelter & Giesecke's School Fraktur which was in turn based on type favored by early 16th century printers in Wittenberg. It was the door of the Schlosskirche in Wittenberg on which Luther nailed his 95 theses. For this reason, types similar to Wittenberger Fraktur are particularly associated with Lutheran theology. There are two s versions in the DFR-layout. They enable you to typeset the old way, where the long s with the form like an f is used in the beginning and middle of a syllable or word and the typical round s, also called final s, is used at the end of syllable and end of words.

Analogia is a digital interpretation of types used in the mid-18th century in books printed at Leuven by Martin van Overbeke. It is intended primarily for use in running text. The roman is businesslike, yet with a distinct personality; it has a generous x-height and is slightly condensed, though without appearing cramped. It is complemented by a more lively italic, which retains some irregularities in the angle of slant that are characteristic of the original. Analogia provides wide support for west, central, and east European languages that use the roman alphabet. Among its OpenType features are ligatures, small caps, several sets of numerals, contextual alternates, intelligent implementation of long ‘s’, and fractions.
