Characterized by quickness, lightness, and ease of movement, Bird Script is a font which challenges many aspects of type-design: every single stroke, comes directly from the author’s hand and tries to reflect not only the tool used, but also his feelings at the moment of writing. Bird Script is a font filled up with the energic gestures of what it’s called gestural calligraphy, a not very explored field in typography, where hardly ever a letter comes the same way two times: When manipulating the pen, the letterer seeks for the beauty of the differences and the grace of a confident execution. In June of 2004, Canada Type released Crucifix, a condensed three-tiers typeface that tried to bridge the gap between traditional blackletter forms and the traditional European gothics. Philip Bouwsma’s offbeat mind, always working in mysterious ways, brings us one of the unlikeliest syntheses of historical influences in a perfectly fluid, organic, and highly expressive connected script. Tupelo takes its inspirational roots from the handwritings of two of the most influential men in world history: Elvis Presley and Abraham Lincoln. It took a little research and analysis on Bouwsma’s part to reveal that The King’s and Honest Abe’s methods of writing shared a common ancestor: a writing system they had both learned as youths during their early school years. «Abelina» is a typeface that can be used in display sizes for titles where part of the central premise is to emulate certain features of gestural handwriting.  Concepts like spontaneity, speed and fluidity, associated with the use of certain calligraphic tools – in this case the pointed brush – led to a typographic result based on the pattern-like structure coming from the chancery and italic calligraphic models. «Abelina» - initially designed by Yanina Arabena (Calligrapher, Graphic Designer and Typographer) - is reborn to make way for “Abelina Pro” through the solid work of Guillermo Vizzari working together with Ale Paul from Sudtipos. Throughout its use, “Abelina Pro” maintains the structure of a firm style, integrating a dynamic rhythm in the composition of short texts and offering personality to each of the words it builds. It has over a thousand glyphs, including several alternates, ligatures combination, initials and miscellaneous to reinforce the idea of the author of merging a calligraphic project in the typographic world; allowing new ways to capture this great universe of italic faces. «Abelina» project was initially born as a typographic project developed by Yanina Arabena – tutored by Ale Paul and Ana Sanfelippo – under completion of the Specialization in Typography Design at University of Buenos Aires, Argentina, during the years 2011 and 2012.

Living from 1545 in Lyon, France, the famous punchcutter Robert Granjon created a typeface that looked like his own handwriting. The first book printed with this font, in 1557, was probably Dialogues de la vie et de la mort by Innocent Ringhier. We offer the complete typeface. It is a charming font with historical forms (long s, final s and others) and many ligatures, enriched with accented letters and other characters that did not exist in the original (thorn, eth, lslash and others), and a lot of alternates that permit rich and varying typography. Warning: all characters appear with the 1500s manual blackletter old style, especially letters “e” “r” or “h” alternate and some ending forms, and may be difficult to read at first, but it quickly becomes very easy. The font contains all characters for Baltic, Western European (Including Celtic), Eastern European, Northern European, and Turkish languages.

Nami, the Japanese word for wave," is the latest collaboration between Adrian Frutiger and Linotype's Type Director, Akira Kobayashi. This typeface family is the most humanistic sans serif design ever to come from Adrian Frutiger, and it has an interesting twist: lapidar alternates that may be surfed through with the help of OpenType-savy applications. Adrian Frutiger began the design that would blossom into Nami during the 1980s. Although it would not be produced during the 20th century, it was quite forward thinking. The typeface included several seemingly avant garde alternates; these were "lapidary" versions of common letterforms. Revisiting the project in 2006, Akira Kobayashi reworked the concept into a working family of three typefaces. Each font contains 483 glyphs, including 11 alternates-two extra forms of the lowercase g, as well as new forms for a, e, h, l, m, n, r, t, and u."

Blythe is a stylish and contemporary handwriting font that captures the elegant hand of the 50s with the immediacy of handwriting fonts such as Affable. Archimedes is a wood type design sometimes known as Mansard. This particular version was brought back to life as a wood type font by Virgin Wood Type. The variation with screw heads in the design was first seen in 1879 by the William H. Page Co. The deconstructive image is combined with a legibility structure like the appearance of the Neo-Classical style. Here's a good old Victorian job printing font. Faithful to the original issued by Barnhart Bros. & Spindler about 1880. Nothing wildly decorative about it, yet it clearly looks old.

The Enagol Math family consists of 4 weight plus True italics. It is a typeface with rounded Slab-Serif of Semi-Condensed proportions. I have composed all the proportions of the character based on a study of mathematical proportions related to the golden sequences of Perrin, Lucas and Fibonacci. From an initial matrix of golden proportions applied in the letters 'H' for capital letters and 'n' for lowercase letters, calculated for the versions of the extremes of the Light and Bold type, below I do the whole calculation of proportions using my formula of three axes and by interpolation I generate the intermediate versions Regular and Medium. For the Italic versions I have drawn a complete set of lowercase letters that give these fonts an aspect close to the Italic writing. Milescut is a display typeface inspired by some seminal covers the graphic designer and photographer Reid Miles created for the Blue Note Records between the 1950s and 1960s. Miles made almost 500 covers for Blue Note in this period, including some using the hand-cut technique that consists basically in doing vertical cuts in capital letters and numerals to create a unique style within the universe he created for Blue Note. Milescut is a tribute to this small “cut” 😬 in his trajectory within the greatest record label of all time. This idea came about while I was working on what will become soon a revival of a wood type that I fell in love with when flipping through a Specimen of the MACHINE CUT WOOD TYPE manufactured by The WM. H. Page Wood Type Co. Milescut has two extra sets of alternates that work cyclically when activated in your OpenType menu and lots of ligatures, pretty cool :)

Just look at my ink traps Ink traps are normally the preserve of fonts intended for printing at small sizes, in newspapers or directories – extra notches necessary to prevent ink from pooling. FS Rufus turns the ink trap into a beautiful eccentricity, flaunting it in both its lowercase and capitals. Take a look at the “h”, “a” and “k”, and the “B” and “N”. Attention-seeking? Moi?

CA Normal Serif is the perfect companion to its grotesque brother CA Normal. But it is not just a serifed equivalent. It has a character of its own while preserving the principal proportions and the idea of quirkiness. It was not the aim to build a typeface that can immediately be identified as a relative of CA Normal. The intention was to create a matching typeface in aspects of aesthetic and concept. Whereas commonly serif-companions to grotesques are old-style or slab-serif, CA Normal Serif is situated between modern and slab-serif typefaces. CA Normal Serif is a little bit of an uncomfortable typeface. Nothing is smooth and cozy. It picks up elements of classic newspaper type as brought to us by Chauncey H. Griffith's legibility group, sharing the flavor of abrasive details and "slabbish" serifs. But the proportions are more condensed than the ones of its predecessors giving it a bit more elegance, which moves it closer to the aesthetic of "Scotch Romans".

Jim Parkinson's Diablo typeface is a single weight display design. The look comes from samples found in early 20th century books on hand-lettering books, as well as general poster lettering styles from that same of the period. Diablo has a touch of the Arts and Crafts" movement in its appearance, and it also looks rather heavy. It is a unicase design, in that there is no real "lowercase." Some glyphs on the uppercase keys are alternates to the capital-style forms found on the lowercase keyboard, like A, E, F, H, J, K, M, N, Q, R, V, W, and Z. In fact, the uppercase itself is a bit more decorated and round than the lowercase. Nevertheless, the upper and lowercase letters may be freely interchanged with each other to create the best possible image for the text. The name of the typeface, Diablo, is another term for the devil, or Satan."
