Actually I did have a butter cookie and a cup of coffee while finishing this font - and it was great! :) The font, Butter Cookie, is a playful and whimsical comic font. ITC Tapioca was designed by Eric Stevens. He developed the typeface for a nightclub, yet its simple forms are reminiscent of childhood writing exercises. As usual, I stumbled upon a great 1971 Italian movie poster when looking for something else. The poster for “La Morte Cammina Con I Tacchi Alti” (directed by Luciano Ercoli), was made by an unknown artist and comes with a great font. Cortese was based on this movie poster font, but as I started working on the glyphs, I figured they would even look better in ligatures. So here it is: Cortese font - complete with 135 ligatures, accents and even Greek and Cyrillic!

Stefan Hauser designed the fun font F2F BoneR in 1996 for the trendy German techno magazine Frontpage. Other technofonts designed for this magazine are available under the label Face2Face (F2F) from Linotype. The basic forms of BoneR are similar to those of a classic italic, however they display an unusual degree of slant to the right. Pax is clearly a didone, using Vox classification. The contrast between the thin lines and the thicker ones is noticeable, as you would expect from a didone. The basic form is relatively narrow, therefore I designed another Pax, slightly wider and darker, and called it Pax #2. Otherwise they are more or less identical. Pax is Latin for peace, on everyone's want list in 1995 - as well as every single year before and after that. Pax was released in 1995.

I have a lot of pencils, but when I need one, they seem to have grown legs and have disappeared! When I decided I wanted to create a pencil font, it took me a long time to find the right pencil for the job! Wandering Pencil is a nice, handmade font. Gábor Kóthay in Hungary has developed an archaic identity largely based upon lettering from a rare Type Specimen of the Jesuit Academy Press of Tyrnavia (1773). They have developed many baroque style typefaces of Hungarian derivation. Gábor wanted an authentic handwriting revival from that age as well. La Danse is a 'facsimile' font, based on the manuscript of an inventory found in the original Tyrnavia specimen. The manuscript was written in an archaic Latin alphabet therefore some modern interpretations have been inserted.

Catskin is a fairytale by The Brothers Grimm. The story is about a king who has a beautiful wife and daughter - you know, the basic fairytale stuff. Long story short: they all live happily ever after (except for the wife, who dies…). Catskin is also a nice, handmade font. I like making fairytale fonts, especially since I have three kids, who love books. And when I see one of my fonts on the cover, I can tell them: ‘daddy made this’. #prouddaddy ;-)

Impresssionable JNL is a font created from samples printed from a vintage rubber stamp toy set. This is a limited character design without spacing or kerning in order to preserve the hand-made look of inkpad printing on paper. A few extra punctuation glyphs, a percent sign and Euro were added to the original characters. At smaller sizes (72 point or less), the letters resemble the imprints of the stamps, but at higher sizes, they take on a different look of deconstructed lettering.

This is a well-built, functional (all caps) typeface, which is very modern in character. The use of diagonal corners in this angular typeface is inspired by the pennant numbers on British Royal Navy warships, which adds an military quality to this typeface. Regular Joe was first delivered to the font world by Ron and Joe. Yes, the same Ron and Joe of the ArtParts fame. A few years of being so regular, Regular Joe became, well, just bored. Regular Joe needed company. He wished for a family. After all, most of his font friends had big families. His wishes were granted by FontHaus. So Skinny and Husky were created to be with Regular and all together, they became Family Joe. All is well.

My kids like to read Donald Duck magazine. They have boxes full of old editions that we bought second hand. Most of the comics are well-used, but there are some in near mint condition. I thought it would be nice to create a font that mimics the lettering found in comics. Mint condition is a very nice, very friendly handmade comic book font that comes with extensive language support (including Vietnamese and Cyrillic), plus two sets of alternate glyphs.

Rebnick is a sans serif typeface where in the early design process, the adjacent stems and bars weren’t weld seamlessly and perfectly. You can actually find glitches which were carefully transformed into a custom language in it’s own and later became the coherent generic rule that keeps everything together. In display sizes, the ink traps give the font’s own character, while in small text sizes they create a good legibility and a well-balanced ratio between the black and white spaces.

Fady Lingers is a mispronunciation of that famous Italian cookie - nevertheless, there is nothing awkward or wrong with the font! It is handmade using a thin marker, leaving an uneven edge. I did spend some time cleaning up each letter, but was carefully observant to keep the original handmade and organic look. I've added 4 slightly different versions of each lowercase letter. and they automatically changes as you type - a really great way to make your design stand out as organic and lively!
