Sildetas is an elegant high-contrast script face. Sildetas was conceived as non-connected, high-contrast and ultra heavy script, as best exemplified by the Black weight. However, it was too much of a temptation to design a hairline variant, and this exploration gave the family’s lighter weights an elegant, graceful feel. The script was modified further to use connected letterforms as the primary glyphs. With its unique swirled ball terminals, this versatile script draws immediate attention. The face glides and flows across the page and the swirling ball terminals provide an interesting diversion to the flow. The lighter weights have an almost spencerian look. Sildetas includes six weights and is a very unique script face. Lighter weights can be used for elegant invitiations. Sildetas can get the job done for many unique design tasks. Sildetas includes many useful OpenType features, including a set of non-connecting and titling alternates, ligatures, and two types of end swashes. Opentype features include simplified swashed stylistic alternates without ball terminals, swash endings, ending contextual alternates, discretionary ligatures, ligatures and five different stylistic sets filled with alternates. In total, there are over 60 alternate letterforms. OpenType-capable applications such as Quark or the Adobe suite can take full advantage of the automatically replacing ligatures and alternates. This family also includes the glyphs to support a wide range of languages.

Coriander is the work of British designer Timothy Donaldson. It started out as a doodle one afternoon Donaldson was bored and uninspired. He wrote the word Coriander" and was then distracted by the sun beating through an adjacent window. He taped the writing paper up on the window as a shade. He took it down a few months later, folded it up, and stuck it in his pocket. When the piece of paper fell out of his pocket a week later, he was inspied to draw the rest of the characters, two alphabets in his sketchbook. The final digitized characters were created by Donaldson using a Wacom tablet and later refined on the screen."

The three fonts in the Prescott series are re-creations of 19th century favorites with an Old West flavor. The town of Prescott was the capital of Arizona Territory from 1864 until 1912, when Arizona was admitted to the Union, and the capital moved to Phoenix. In 1986 Page Studio Graphics started its digital foundry in Arizona. The fonts are thoroughly pair-kerned, including all accented characters. Auto-kerning should be turned on in your application program. The font packages include both TrueType and PostScript versions, and are available in either PC/Win or Macintosh format. In order to avoid serious problems, be sure not to install the same fonts in both TrueType and PostScript on the same computer.

When people usually think of wood type, images of bold and ornate designs reminiscent of the Old West or the Victorian Era come to mind. In truth, wood type was manufactured well into the late 20th century, and only fell out of favor when the letterpress was replaced by the offset press and computerized typesetting. Although there are hard-core collectors who have started a small resurgence in the preservation and use of wood type, it's the digital interpretations of these classic faces that see the most use in today's electronic layout work. Deco Wood Type JNL reinterprets one of these later designs, a bold sans with a decidedly Art Deco influence.

Horst More is a retro soft serif typeface comprising 18 fonts. It can handle most typographic applications from branding to body copy with its range of weights and inherent legibility. Whatever you type will have a friendly message, but it really comes into its own when you start applying some of the additional ligatures and alternates that are built into this type family. Monto is a superfamily — this is the Grotesk + Grotesk Display part of it. Monto Grotesk is a modern sans serif typeface that combines the strengths of the neo-grotesque and geometric genres. While maintaining an established and trusted look, the design is influenced by a contemporary geometric aesthetic, making it a modern yet timeless companion. The Grotesk is split into two sub-families (Monto Grotesk and Monto Grotesk Display). While Grotesk is intended to be used in long paragraphs and copy text, Grotesk Display is perfect for striking headlines. To achieve maximum legibility, Grotesk emphasizes its characters vertical strokes, focusing on a coherent rhythm and having more open counters in contrast to Display which features a reduced tracking and more geometric and round forms. Furthermore, individual characters change their entire shape to best suit their areas of operation.

Drawn by Tony Stan, ITC Garamond was first released in 1975 in Book and Ultra weights only. These were intended as display faces to complement existing text designs from other foundries. (In fact, many of ITC’s interpretations of traditional typefaces began as display counterparts for existing text designs.) These first weights of ITC Garamond became so popular, however, that ITC released the Light and Bold weights and a suite of condensed faces in 1977. Now, the complete ITC Garamond family features sixteen members: four weights of roman and italic in normal width and four weights of roman and italic in companion condensed versions. The family resemblance is there, but ITC Garamond’s unique provenance gives it an unmistakable, one-of-a-kind appeal.

I have always had a keen interest in forging; I used to be a silversmith, and I love working with metal. Some time ago I forged my first axe (a skeggøx or bearded axe), sharpened it and fitted it with a handmade ash handle. It isn’t perfect, but it is my first ever forged axe and I’m pretty proud of it. All of this went through my head when I started drawing the glyphs for this font. And to be honest, I couldn’t find a more suitable name for it! Bladesmith is a handmade font, forged in fire (haha). It was actually made with an old sharpie. It is a rough and ready font, quite suited for headlines, book covers and posters.

Quadratique is the first font of a large family that was originated in geometric patterns. We developed a system through a square of 6 modules of side, which are transformed and combined to give up 104 originals glyphs. As a result, each letter is a subfamily that may be combined by overlapping (A, a, a.salt and a.swsh) and thus generate more than 365 glyphs, or thousands if we combine different letters. Quadratique is so easy to use, that user does not need guidance. You just must typeset [aaaa, bbbb, etc.] and start to play, try to make that each module overlapping with others and repeat [(a + A) (a + A) (a + A), etc.] You may create thousands of new patterns and creative frames just combining different modules.

During the period of the Great American Depression, “hobos” created a system of symbols to communicate and assist fellow travelers. These symbols would mark a home, farm, fence or other structure to indicate what to expect in the area. They would tip off travelers on how to find food, stay safe and what to avoid and more. In some areas of the USA, these symbols are still visible and have also become part of the American popular culture. These 96 symbols are accompanied by the what the symbol was used to indicate. The meanings and symbols are by no means the complete list andther may be additional or alternative meanings. These are for casual use and not historical or anthropologically completely accurate

Quite unusual, Musenberg started his Raldo design with the italic. However, he managed to preserve the temperament and vividness of the italic in the roman without questioning the stability of the individual characters. Raldo is a modern Sans Serif family already quite popular in Germany. The German IGEPA group chose Raldo as corporate typeface family. Now, Marc Musenberg redesigned and extended his Raldo typeface family. The new Raldo RE Pro comprises 10 styles, 5 roman and 5 corresponding italics. All fonts now include the complete Latin character set plus fractions, different sets of figures and fractions as well as small caps and small caps figures for Raldo RE Pro Text, Regular, Semibold and Bold. Raldo RE Pro has been chosen to be part of the URW++ SelecType.

Nucleometer is a very contrasting and at the same time elegant display font. It is ideal for large headlines and impressionable typography. Introducing Minimalist VONESA – a new nostalgic serif revival that will blow your mind. I've started looking at classic serifs with a narrow 80's & 90's range, and wanted to make the perfect one for you too! VONESA Minimalist is a beautiful nostalgic upper and lower case typography that looks amazing in upper and lower case settings as Display, Logo and body text. One thing to note about VONESA Minimalist is that the letter spacing is intentionally set for clean readability if you want to use it for body types, so I recommend setting the spacing a bit tighter for display use (around -20 to -40 should be!). Marita combines sternness with swing and, from this, develops its own, unique elegance. This makes Marita quite versatile, also and especially for headline settings. Apart from numerous ligatures, the font also includes old style figures. Marita is based on brush writing with drop-shaped serifs. The idea was to try to apply a given design criteria (also see Volker Schnebel's Manuel and Martin fonts) to every single character. In other words, start with a character and develop all of the others from it. This is quite easy for some characters but extremely difficult for others. This process generates creativity and the characters move away from the initial constructed sketch. Together in a typeface, the individual characters are now all of a piece and character.

A contemporary sans-serif typeface with an agreeable character, Doctrine Sans is the moderate comrade of the display typeface Doctrine Stencil. From the obscure starting point of the North Korean national airline livery, Doctrine was developed to encompass a series of more mature typographic influences. Doctrine draws influence from the classic mid-century neo-grotesques and, while it retains a sense of crisp modernity, it exudes a more contemporary and human character. The rounded, lighter weights speak with graceful composure while the large x-height, low contrast and squarer, heavier, weights give Doctrine an affable charm and a persuasive voice. The alternate characters borrow elements from humanist and geometric styles and provide an idiosyncratic, experimental counterpart to the primary character set.

Clauques Family includes four fonts and, in addition, a very useful extra elements.

Rataczak is a stiff, awkward serifed font that was inspired by similar fonts from the 19th century. It is legible as a text font but not graceful. In addition to plain, italic, bold, bolditalic, extrabold, condensed, and condenseditalic styles, there is a striped style and a font of swash capitals.

Stanzer is an interpretation of wood type combined with the idea of modern stencils. Instead of cutting every letter, we are presenting an example of how a modern stencil typeface could look like, as we have come to the conclusion that almost every letter works without cutting it. Stanzer is a Unicase typeface, available in three OpenType weights: Black, Shadow and Block. Stanzer first started as part of our diploma 2010 (it was called Stanley at that time). The basic idea behind this typeface is that it is fully stencil usable, and, unlike other stencil fonts, does not require any bridges (except for the O and Q). Almost every letter can be sprayed without inserting planks. However, Stanzer also offers the display weight Block, which is only suitable for print or online usage.

At the end of every road in Transylvania stands a dark, foreboding castle, seemingly clouded by impossibly dark shadows. Bat-like creatures scurry across its gargoyle-festooned towers, and slimy green patches of moss climb inexorably up its cold walls. What does a 1932 movie about a love affair between a circus' trapeze artist and a sideshow "little person" have to do with the 1960s counter-culture? They both share some commonalities. The title card for Tod Browning's "Freaks" inspired the lettering design for Hippie Freak JNL. It's in a retro style that was embraced by the youth movement that had its epicenter in the Haight-Ashbury district of San Francisco. Circus performers with birth defect abnormalities were displayed in what was referred to as "freak shows"; while young men with long hair and beards who sought peace, love and an end to the war in Vietnam were commonly referred to as "hippie freaks". As the saying goes "the more things change, the more they stay the same".
