Sergury is an ultra-bold typeface formed by cutting circular elements from rectangular blocks. It is caps only and is so bold that it is almost unreadable. The three tall styles were added in 2021. Sergury is a variation of Porker, another experimental typeface.

At VetteLetters we like food but we also appreciate our drinks. Yes, of the non-alcoholic kind as well. Like milk. Contrary to what Arnold Schwartzenegger once said, Milk is not just for babies. It contains a whole lot of stuff that is genuinely good for you. Like proteins, carbohydrates, minerals (calcium a.o.) and many vitamins. One time visiting The Hague, Donald DBXL spotted a tile tableau on a brick wall, advertising a dairy factory called ‘De Sierkan’. Yellow sans serif letters on a bright blue background, dating back to the late 19th century, immediately grabbed DBXL’s attention. Especially because the tableau showed both regular and bold letters with some lovely peculiarities here and there. De Sierkan appeared to have been a milk factory solely operating in The Hague from 1879 until 1961. A number of these wall adverts are still to be seen in The Hague streets today. Photos were taken for later reference. Later is now, the lettering has been digitized, missing characters added, and VLNL Melk sees the light of day. VLNL Melk is an all-caps geometric display sans serif family of three weights, Regular, Bold and Black. The basic shape of the letters is a rectangle with rounded corners, leaving a sturdy no-nonsense look and feel. It has a distinct historic aura, but with both feet in this digital day and age. It can equally well be used for the logo of a hipster coffee place, as the cover of a historic novel. Actually, VLNL Melk kan be applied in a wide range of designs like logos, posters, flyers, book covers and magazine headlines.

Around the turn of the 20th Century, the Inland Type Foundry produced a display face named Studley. It was a variation on a design by another foundry called Florentine. A condensed face with a bold, clean look, the design resembled the warmth and feel of a classic wood type. Best applied to headlines and titles, the font reads amazingly well at even 18 point renderings. Jeff Levine had added his own personal touch to his digital version of this old favorite and renamed it Bayview JNL.

Based on letterforms of Firmin Didot, a French typographer from the 18th century, ITC Didi, of 1970, by Herb Lubalin and Tom Carnase, and Russian typefaces of the 18th-19th centuries. A little extragerrated decorative stylization of letterforms in the spirit of Modern Serif, with elements of an irony. For use in headlines, in advertising and display typography. Ardela Edge's three family concept means all character alternates are accessible to all, on any software. The cut glyphs feature as the CAPS of the font, whilst the unaffected letters appear as the lowercase. Many subtle ligatures are accessed by typing in all caps, however to access all ligatures requires software with opentype capabilities, such as Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign or Inkscape.

Discórdia is a type-family of contrasting contrasts. Each of the four members of the family has a different contrast type. Regular has broad-nib contrast, Bold has horizontal contrast, the Italic is monoline, which means it has no apparent contrast, and Bold Italic is... Well, it’s probably best if see for yourself. These different design structures were fine-tuned to work well together in the same line, creating emphasis and hierarchy through a mini-super-family that groups a wedge-serif Regular, a slab-serif Bold, a sans-serif-ish Italic and a twisted Bold Italic. Magreb is a classic serif font inspired by Garamond and Venetian Serif Styles, accentuating softness and conveying luxury. This family of four weights and their corresponding italics is an old style construction and bridges the glory of the past with the elegance of the present. The process of making this fonts starting with an ellipse brush with a certain slope so that it resembles calligraphy pen strokes. followed by creating the basic serif elements, refining the vectors and softening each joint so that it looks natural. Next, develop it from regular weight to weight bold. Magreb has expanded the latin character set to support 200+ latin based languages. We added opentype features suchs superscript and subscript; Numeretor and Denominator; Old Style figures and lining figures.

A special category of typefaces, combining together principles of both serif and sans-serif, is sometimes described as Linear-Antiqua by German typographers. This concept catches the eye wherever it appears and this is also the case of Tabac Glam — a highly contrasting display typeface, expanding the wide expressive spectrum of our Tabac super-family through a new characteristic hue. Tabac Glam is naturally a great complement to the serif Tabac. It’s however only in conjunction with other styles of the superfamily — Sans, Slab and Mono, that you’ll be able to unleash the enormous potential of the wide range of combinations, and the family’s 112 styles will certainly satisfy all needs of both elegant and technical typesetting. Tabac Glam will best stand out in huge grades, on the covers of thick magazines under glossy layers of UV coating, or on snow-white surfaces of displays.

OBO Star is a fat, subtly flared display typeface with a not so subtle groove factor. The letters are based on a square and do not have ascenders or descenders. This way the typeface can be used for horizontal and vertical settings, or mixed like crosswords. There are a few exceptions for certain punctuation and special characters that are half the width for better spacing; and the word space’s width can easily be adjusted through OpenType stylistic sets. Talking about spacing, for strictly horizontal typesetting there is the option to turn on kerning for a number of characters to create a more optimal texture across words and phrases. But that’s all just technical talk. The true character of OBO Star is the funky look, amplified by the wide 1x1 format that creates space for unconventional shapes, mostly pronounced in the letters R, K and G.

Matthew Carter designed the Shelley family 1972 for Mergenthaler Linotype to be used as a new script face for the photo typesetting machines. The basic idea was to create one script face that would offer dfferent elegant letterforms. Matthew designed Shelley in three different versions, Allegro which is in the style of Kuenstler Schreibschrift, Andante where the caps are less flowrish and wide and Volante where the letters have its most expressive and wide forms and the lowercase z in this font is in the french anglian double stacked form. All three versions can be easily mixed to give the text a more individual calligraphic look Besides Shelley Linotype Zapfino from Hermann Zapf shows similar basics, but in a totally different letterform. In Linotype Zapfino the individual lowercase letters from the four different versions have different letterforms which gives the text an even more individual touch.

Near the end of his life, legendary type designer Eric Gill lived in Jerusalem, and became interested in the typesetting of the Hebrew alphabet and the challenges it entailed. He designed his own Hebrew font which has not (to my knowledge) been digitized before. It is sometimes held up as an example of how not to do a Hebrew font: Gill introduced strange serifs and shapes that were jarring to readers used to more traditional fonts. But it is quite readable, and does start to grow on you after a while; extended text in Gill Hebrew is possible. I've added a set of alternate digits that are based on the shapes of the letters (Gill's digits are pretty standard text figures). I've also made some of the Unicode Hebrew symbols that Gill didn't (e.g. New Sheqel Sign, Alef-Lamed ligature, etc.) and also included vowel-points.

The Core Sans E family is part of the Core Sans series, such as Core Sans N, Core Sans M, Core Sans A, Core Sans G and Core Sans D. This is a modernized, grotesque font family with horizontal terminals, low-stroke contrast, enclosed apertures and little-line-width variation. Its tall x-height makes the text legible; and the spaces between individual letter forms are precisely adjusted to create the perfect typesetting. The Core Sans E family consists of 9 weights, from Thin to Black with italics. It supports WGL4, which provides a wide range of character sets—Greek, Cyrillic, and Central and Eastern European characters. Each font includes support for tabular numbers, arrows, mathematical operators, and OpenType features (such as proportional figures, numerators, denominators, subscript, superscript, scientific inferiors, fractions, case features, and standard ligatures). We highly recommend it for use in books, web pages, screen displays, and so on.

The inspiration for the Okaytext family came from seeing so many fun, highly individualized special-use fonts. Alongside this massive selection, the choice of simple, plain & readable typefaces is relatively spartan. As a newly established foundry, we feel it a "must" to contribute our very best work to this important but oft-neglected genre of fonts. So the construction of the Okaytext family began. We feel that a rounded, sans serif font should be easily read, and very clean looking. It does not need to tire the eyes with any needless twists or silly quirks. So is Okaytext, it exists simply to be read, and hopes that it is a pleasant read. Okaytext is perhaps our most versatile font yet, its ultra-simplicity makes it adaptable to the demands of almost any typeset environment. Okaytext is extended, containing the complete West European diacritics & ligatures, making it suitable for multilingual environments & publications.
