Works by Rudolf Koch and Friedrich Heinrichsen are reflected, as well as the work of showcard lettering artists Ross George and Samuel Welo. Medieval manuscript samples were also helpful in developing this style.

Praying Mantis is a typeface designed by Tomass Gavars. The design was inspired by the praying mantis insect. The shapes of the mantis head, forelegs and body are represented in each glyph.
