view forum post #24733 Thank you so much for the reply. I had actually found the WhatTheFont link prior to reading this, and learned the identity exactly in the method you mentioned. When I did, I returned here and spent the next 15 minutes attempting to post a reply. However, AbstractFonts continued to say "failed" to the post attempts. In attempting to compare the Adobe version to Zapf, I realized that one is slightly more compressed. I chose to go with the Zapf version (in OTF) because kerning appeare a little tighter than the Adobe version. Thanks again for the great info!
view forum post #24730 I was given this font ("Obstacle" as a TTF) by a friend who'd like me to use it in his literature. It appears to be a TTF from one of these "free font collections", but it's so familiar, I believe this is also a legitimate font from a more common foundry, and available in OTF. I'm inquiring to learn whether anyone knows of the original font's name? Thank you in advance!
view forum post #22061 Ahh Koeiekat, Thank you as always.. So there is not some font that I'm unable to find, then.. When you say "designed after most of the 'Swiss' types", do you mean to say that it's a newer version of Helvetica? I thought I was using Neue, but it's been so long since I installed Helvetica, that I could be wrong or have mixed something up. Thank you again for your insight :-)
view forum post #22053 I thought it would be easy to recreate this, because I assumed it was a HelvBold Condensed, just tightening the kerning. The "K" and "W" are different and the X-Height is just a tiny bit off, I think. I tested Trade Gothic Condensed, DIN varieties, etc. I thought for sure it would have been posed here before, but couldn't find it in a search! Experts, what say you :-)?
view forum post #17771 Ivan - that is genius. Thank you for this tip! Koeiekat - I still think that is amazing that you can keep that many unique characters in your head. Taking you advice, I went through my entire collection and tried to find unique letters, then attempted to refer back to them. Sadly, this did not work. I am going to keep working on this, now that you've given me some great tips! Just one question. When you say you run a search "locally", what do you mean? Do you have a program that searches based on samples? I once found a shareware application along these lines (somewhere on download.com); however, I wasn't able to get it to work. Thank you all, again, for such great insight!
view forum post #17675 That is amazing! How in the world are you able to do this, with such precision no less?! Do you have an application that aids in the process? Taz looks great, and you're right, Interstate looks a bit off, partially because of the steeper slopes. Thanks again, and please let me know if there is a technique I should be used to help myself before bothering the forum :-)..
view forum post #17608 I really like this font, it's got all of the nice features of Myriad, but a little softer (notice the slopes). And it's a nice weight, slightly lighter than a Myriad Black. I tried Identifont, but it came up with ITC Legacy, which is definitely not it :-). Thank you in advance!
view forum post #17231 You're right on the money, thank you! I did some research and discovered this font is also used by JetBlue and has quite a history: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/FF_DIN Thanks again!
view forum post #17201 I stumbled upon this *extremely* clean and neat Sans font that I'd love to use for headlines and easy-to-read presentation of numbers. I originally found this here: http://www.zionsdirectauctions.com/ack/ I've uploaded a sample if you prefer to look at the close-up. Thank you in advance! WPB
view forum post #16654 Thank you Koeiekat. The fact that it strikes you the same way, yet you can't find anything either, makes me feel better! Looks like I've found one more font I "have to have" - when will it end, oh when... :-).
