This font of Moon Type is modelled after Dr. Moon's original poster. He developed this embossed writing system to help those who have lost their sight later in life, and so are familiar with the shapes of English letters. Moon writing is still used, and you can find books written with it. This font only contains the letters and punctuation that are in the Moon Type system.

KnockType is based on the concept of braille notation in Japanese. It does not support braille notation in other languages. KnockType is not necessarily aimed at facilitating “braille transcription”. It is designed so that someone who understands the grammar of “braille transcription” can instantly transliterate into braille text that was previously transcribed to kana characters, etc. In addition, it allows ink characters to be converted to braille using OpenType features. It is recommended for use in applications that are compatible with OpenType features. If they are not compatible, KnockType is “simply a kana font”. To be a little more specific, it is assumed that KnockType will be used in Adobe’s InDesign and Illustrator applications. If you don't have them, you will not get satisfactory results. Four types of font are available. There are “hasBox&Line”, “hasnotBox&Line”, and the reversed font of each. When displayed on a convex surface, the assumption is that they will be used mainly for printing applications. When displayed on a concave surface, the assumption is that they will be used mainly for writing on braille boards, etc. By printing, you can get a rough idea of the dot positions. In communicating the affairs of Court, Mercurius Aulicus can claim to be England's first regular newspaper, printed at Oxford and reprinted in London almost throughout the entire war. This typeface family echoes the calligraphic scripts of newspaper cartoons of the time.

Goudy Type was designed by Frederic Goudy for ATF in 1916. He endeavored to create a lively design with some brush-lettering qualities. In his words, he believed he was still attempting to ‘find himself’ as a designer. Thirty years later he was shown the design and could hardly recollect its creation. Steve Matteson has digitized Goudy Type to preserve its place in typographic history.

NewYorkerType was one of the first typefaces I tried my hand at in 1985. I meant it as a revival of the typeface used by the New Yorker magazine. I did not scan it in, I just looked at the type and redrew it completely by hand. So it is not just a copy, but rather a redesign. Only much later did I come to know, that there is a bundle of similar typefaces of that period. Rea Irvin's design for New-Yorker magazine was just one of them, but the best. DT PaperType has evolved and morphed over time from quite distant origins. I previously created DT Paperside. It was neither Papyrus nor SSI Countryside, but was inspired in some ways by the Papyrus form, although untextured and smoother, and had the more open dimensions and proportions, similar to that of Countryside SSi, with its larger easily readable lowercase body, and more consistent, shorter stems. DT Paperside had an open scripted feel which was pleasing to the eye and easy to read. DT PaperType has since been crafted from of the original Paperside font. The Organic flow and comfortable form of Paperside has been retained, but it has been shifted very much from the feel of a script font, into a quality, extremely readable, organic and friendly, serif font, retaining its clarity, while adding a great deal of pose and class. This font is primarily suited to body text, and as such is extremely readable. It does however also make an excellent Display font, and comes with a full set of over sized Caps that drop below the line to stand out on a headline when required. Paperside can also automatically enhance the first letter of most sentences, and changes other letters to suit their position within words, and the letters they appear beside. Now comes with an italic that curves and softens various letters. For best results, use this ‘smart font’ with Contextual Ligatures turned on. Mulitiple Stylistic Alternatives are included. Inspiration for this fonts predecessor (Paperside) came from two other fonts. Papyrus: designed by Chris Costello and created in 1982, it is a hand-drawn textured typeface, emulating texts written in biblical times. One of the most used (and misused) fonts of all times.
