American Uncial™ was designed by Victor Hammer in 1943. Uncial typefaces consist of letter forms of the Capitalis Monumentalis and the majescule cursive. The origins of Uncial faces date back to the 5th century. In 1953, American Uncial was expanded to include some new figures, also designed by Hammer, and was rereleased by Klingspor with the name Neue Hammer Unziale. The forms are based on old scripts in books of antiquity and the early Middle Ages and the font is a new variation of a classic. Neue Hammer Unziale font has been a favorite for certificates and diplomas and is recommended for headlines and shorter texts in a point size of 12 or larger.

The rounded shapes of P22 Elven show the influence of the 10th-century Irish half-uncial. Effective for projects dealing with mystery, fantasy, or historical drama.

In a career spanning the early 1900s through 1940, George M. Cohan wrote and produced over 50 plays, 300 songs and was also an actor, singer and dancer. Many of his works honored his Irish roots, and the cover of one piece of sheet music called “The Irish American” (1905) had its title hand lettered in a condensed Art Nouveau type design with tiny spurred serifs. This is now available digitally as Dress Rehearsal JNL, in both regular and oblique versions.

Habano is an eleganty flowing bold script with some very surprising traits. Philip Bouwsma makes use of his extensive calligraphy and type design experience by reaching into his vault and completing one of his unfinished projects from the mid-1990s. The result is Styx, a four-font connected-script family, with rough and smooth variations, each containing two sets of majuscules and plenty of alternates sprinkled throughout the character map. The Styx family comes in all popular font formats, and includes an extended range of language support covering Western and Central/Eastern European languages, Turkish, Baltic, Esperanto and Celtic/Welsh. Because of the large influx of Irish immigrants during the late 1800s and early 1900s, it was not unusual for songwriters of the day to craft songs around Irish themes, offering a nostalgic link to their homeland. One such 1917 piece entitled "You Brought Ireland Right Over to Me" had the title hand lettered on the sheet music cover in a sans serif design reflecting the popular Art Nouveau movement of the day. This sticky blackletter font owes its street credibility to the texture of torn adhesive tape. Designed to support rehabilitation of the historically tainted Fraktur, its pragmatically shaped majuscules guarantee legibility to a 21st-century readership. They even forgive all-caps usage - a thing you better not try with most blackletter types around. It contains a range of diacritics and ligatures, as well as open type features that substitute alternate glyphs for often repeating characters. With its fine tape strip details you may best use it at poster and headline sizes; at small sizes you interestingly get a nice woodcut appearance. Designer Steven Skaggs wanted a versatile uncial typeface that was not simply decorative. Traditionally, a true uncial is a majuscule form, entirely lacking in ascenders and descenders. However, by designing Rieven Uncial, Skaggs found a way to use the true uncial as inspiration but retained a lowercase look and feel. Typically, uncials do not have italic forms but in order for Rieven to be a truly versatile face, it was imperative that it should be accompanied by an italic. The italic form owes much to the historical roots in the letra antigua cursiva of the 15th century humanist masters. Rieven Uncial was awarded a Certificate of Excellence in Type Design in the 2010 TDC2.

Ezekiel Script is the font become flesh—mythic gesture imposed upon forms of mechanical medium. Typography has changed the internet; our phasing mimetic desires tend toward posture rather than rationale, and the face is a concept that explores that concept. Obviously some reading of McLuhan has infliunced this concept of analysis. The script has ample diacritic extensions, as well as an alternative for the ampersand (characteristic of MYSTERIAN type) and the eszette: an upper and lower case. The upper and lower case alphabets are diverse in that the majuscules do not have linking strokes while the miniscules do. This was the first script that I've made, and great attentiveness was taken to ensure that links were set accurately, and spacing harmonious throughout.

The Lindisfarne Gospels is an illuminated manuscript probably produced around the years 715–720 in the monastery at Lindisfarne, off the coast of Northumberland. It’s the work of a monk named Eadfrith. He was a highly trained calligrapher, and he used insular majuscule script in the manuscript. Mein Schatz's (in English: Darling) characteristic feature is the availability of ligatures in the expert set. The font offers – among others – the ligatures sh, sp, st, tz and alternatives for f, l and z. The expert set’s majuscules have curved elements in addition, thus allowing designers to put the typeface to highly individualistic use for displays and logos. Another feature of the font are the two different figure systems. Further to the normal table figures, Mein Schatz also offers old style figures, mainly for use in continuous text. Table figures as well as old style figures are available in all four cuts, i.e. regular, bold, italic and bolditalic. Furthermore designers will enjoy the additional curved ornaments. The curved ornaments and ligatures don’t only add a playful character to the typeface but also hence the name.

Named in tribute to the members of the American Typecasting Fellowship, this font is an original expression of Jim Rimmer's left-handed calligraphy. It was designed and cut in 24 p in the early 1980s, then cast as foundry type on Jim's own Thompson typecasting machine. This alphabet exhibits classic semi-italic text tension, with sqaurish minuscules and hybrid renaissance majuscules. Jim's unique sense of restrained but attractive typo-calligraphic creativity puts on quite a show here. Fellowship was updated and remastered for the latest technologies in 2013. It comes with plenty of built-in alternates and ligatures. Its glyphset contains over 420 characters, and supports the majority of Latin-based languges. 20% of this font's revenues will be donated to the GDC Scholarship Fund, supporting higher typography education in Canada.

Liebling (in English: Sweetheart) was developed according to the sans serif font Mein Schatz with the purpose of having two typefaces which match perfectly. The contrast between thicks and thins was set very low. Just enough to contrast with same-weight Mein Schatz. One of the typeface’s characteristic features, also like its partner, is the availability of ligatures within an expert set. Liebling offers the characters sh, sp, st, ty among others and alternative letters for v and w. The majuscules of the expert set have curved elements allowing the designer to put the typeface to a highly individualistic use for displays and headlines. Another feature of the typeface are two different figure systems. In addition to the old style figures for use in continuous text, Liebling offers regular table figures within the expert set.

The Irish monk Columbanus founded early monasteries across Western Europe starting in the Sixth Century, bringing literacy in his wake. As the Patron Saint of Motorcyclists, the adventurous Columbanus is both gallant and respected. The font is Classical Roman with a Celtic accent, great for a range of applications from the sacred to the profane.

The Book of Kells is a handwritten Irish text which dates back to the 8th century. Kris Holmes and Janice Prescott digitalized some letters from this book and some from a Grotesk font in the style of Frutiger. A computer filled in the blanks and the designers then gave the font its finishing touches by hand.

Konrad Kachelofen was a printer in the city of Leipzig beginning around 1483. He printed many works by contemporary authors and also many of the classics. He acquired an unusually large amount of typefaces for his shop, a place that included a wine bar and book store. This type face is based on Typ.11:340G GfT510 Gesamtkatalog der Wiegendrucke and is similar to Proportional Lime’s “Kachelofen'' font. The major differences are that the whole miniscule set is slimmer and the majuscule set has different style glyphs and this face was used solely for titles and section headings because of its sharper and clearer appearance at large point values. Konrad probably died in 1529 after passing his business on to his son-in-law Melchior Lotter, who also went on to fame as an industrious and illustrious printer.

Bayer Sans, is based on the typography of the Austrian-born artist Herbert Bayer. Bayer worked as a teacher and graphic designer at the Bauhaus, a revolutionary German art school, during the 20's. His specialty was commercial art and he had many "radical" views on typography and its interaction with society. Bayer felt that written language should be merely a graphic version of spoken language. Thus, he advocated a single alphabet without majuscules and miniscules. Bayer's designs are simple, geometric letterforms that lend themselves to lowercase form. This font, based on the typography of Bayer and his students at the Bauhaus Werkstatt (studio), was digitally modeled by Noah Rothschild. Bayer Sans features a complete character set including European characters, alternate letters with adjusted widths and designs and ligatures. Philip Bouwsma returns with yet another great manifestation of historical calligraphy. Luminari is an amalgam of High Middle Ages writing, a blend that combines the ornate Church hands with the simple Carolingian from the ninth to the fifteenth centuries. Its majuscules are particularly influenced by the versals found in the famous Monmouth psalters, as well as those done by the Ramsey Abbey abbots in the twelfth century. The Rostrum fonts are a revival and expansion of a type called Oleander, designed in 1938 by Julius Kirn for the Genzsch & Heyse foundry in Hamburg. Many of the original uppercase letters had some blackletter remnants tacked onto them, so in this digital version they were relegated to the Rostrum Two font, while more contemporary forms were designed for the Rostrum One font. Characters from both fonts are interchangeable via software programs' font menus and glyph palettes in the Postscript and True Type versions, while the OpenType version takes advantage of the Ligatures, Contextual Alternates and Stylistic Alternates features to perform character substitutions. Rostrum finds the middle ground between italic and brush script, which makes it quite usable in all-caps settings.
