FS Rosa is a free-spirited and optimistic serif typeface – reminiscent of those used on fanzines, film sequences and book covers of the 1970s, such as Cooper and Windsor, it has a laid-back nature with a touch of rebellion. It also reminds of type used in colourful protest graphics by nun-turned-designer Corita Kent, and its personality is akin with brands like Whole Foods - positive rather than preachy. While unconventional, it’s sensible enough to work perfectly for socially conscious brands, magazines, websites and campaigns that want a fairer and more responsible world. Hand-drawn digitally, FS Rosa is warm and open-minded – its irregular letterforms are rounded, with soft terminals, a large x-height and wide apertures. But it is also quirky and eclectic, with irregular shapes – its short ascenders and descenders have slanted serifs, its uppercase forms have unusually low crossbars and the letters are filled with oddities and surprises. The typeface looks to stand out against a sea of homogenous, geometric sans serifs, and celebrates beauty through imperfection. It comes in five weights of Thin, Light, Regular, Bold and Black. The heavier weights make an impact and are great for loud, headline statements. The Regular weight is functional, balanced and robust for text, and the lighter weights have an elegance and contemporary beauty. FS Rosa is eclectic yet with its soft roundness, also positive and progressive. Its name, inspired by the phrase “rose-tinted glasses”, reflects its optimism.

Linotype Aroma No.2 appears straightforward in form, completely sans serif, yet with a trace of humanistic features that gives it that extra edge.

Technobaby is a funky futuristic font done with modular letterforms. This typeface arose from playing around with the basic rounded rectangle shape. Jason wanted to see how many different letters he could create by simply changing the locations of the slots cut into the rectangles. Overall it lends the font a very cohesive and unique look. Victoriana arose from an inquiry from the Victorian Society for a Victorian font for their journal. As it turned out, no commission resulted, but interest in such a font was aroused in Andy Benedek. Basing the design on some woodblock letterforms, outlines of a basic set of characters were drawn. These, however, were modified to the extent that the final font bore little resemblance to the woodblock letterforms. As erstwhile cyclists, the font was named after the British and champion world track cyclist, Victoria Pendleton who was greatly admired.

Etruscania font is base on Anchient Etruscan Alphabet. The Etruscan alphabet is an Ancient Italian alphabet used by the Etruscans, an ancient civilization of the central and northern lands, to write their language, from around 700 BC to around 100 AD. The Etruscan alphabet took inspiration from the Phoenician alphabet. The earliest known Etruscan abecedarium inscribed on an ivory wax tablet frame, measuring 8.8x5 cm, was found at Marsiliana near Grosseto, Tuscany in Italy. It dates from around 700 BC.

Barricade JNL is Jeff Levine's take on an old favorite that's been around since at least the 1940s.

Collegiate is a full font based on the lettering around an old mosaic tile badge at Liverpool Collegiate School.

I was playing around with computer style forms, and suddenly noticed an optical effect in this style. There you go!

At first glance, Transcendental JNL looks like a 1960s or 1970s-era "Hippie" type face, hence its "love generation" name. However, the actual inspiration comes from a piece of sheet music from the early 1900s with Art Nouveau influences. It is often proven that what goes around certainly does come around in art, fashion and lettering. Transcendental JNL is available in both regular and oblique versions.

Playing around with a previous design, Jeff Levine came up with Cut Paper Stencil JNL, a typeface with both an Art Deco flair and the look of letters made from cut paper.

This is a font that will fit in the "hard to read section" because it may not be super legible at first sight - that is because of the negative space. But when you combine the two layers (Layer and Box) the letter suddenly appears very legible! Play around with your favourite colour palette while adjusting the transparency in order for the colours to blend, giving a really nice handcrafted look!
