Font suggestions needed~
#1 Posted by Jen on 2006-06-13 20:28:14 | quote | 69.112.*.1*
Hey there everyone! This is my first thread on this forum, and I'm hoping someone can help me. I'm looking for a sophisticated, light, thin, elegant, modern font, most preferably one that looks good in all-lowercase letters. I searched this website's database, but I haven't found the perfect font yet. I'm sorry if my request is vague or broad, but I really do need help.

If anyone has a font in mind, or knows a categorized site where I might be able to find one and download it free, please let me know. Thanks to all in advance! :)

It almost sounds like you are describing Carlton. However it is not a free font. But maybe if you like it we can find you something similar.

Let us know if this is the type of sophistication you are looking for:

That's a stunning font, and right along the lines of what I'm looking for! What a great find. It's clean, narrow, and modern--perfect. I'll search myfonts.com for other fonts that look about right, then maybe you could find free fonts that look similar?

Thanks so much for your help!

EDIT: Other fonts on myfonts.com that caught my eye include: **Canterbury Old Style RR, Minerva, **Tourette, Italian Didot, Aged, Metropolis SG, OL Garamond, etc.

**definitely in the right direction

Now that we know the type of style - let's go back the the "freebie" range...

How about Lilith

(Sorry Alex you don't have that one here)
It is very similar to an old typefont we use to call Little Eve.

Hopefully that will do the trick for you...

I've actually seen Lilith before. It's a great font, and is definitely along the right lines...but not quite perfect. I'm sorry for being so picky, but this is an important decision (as the layout editor, I'm trying to pick the right font for the cover of my school yearbook. I've actually shown Lilith to our yearbook advisor, but she didn't think it was quite right).

It's important that the font can work as a title font, one that's eye-catchingly (if that's even a phrase) sophisticated, and one that looks good in all-lowercase letters.

Thanks especially to Heron2001 for helping me out so much. I'll keep looking, as I hope you will, until I find the perfect font. I will not rest until it is found! :)

I wish I knew my freebies better - but I'm sorry I don't. However, if $2 a font won't break the budget - you can have some nice Font Bank http://www.buyfonts.com/fontlist.htm choices like Abbess or Chicadee -- or better and more up-to-date have you ever checked out the 2 Peas - $2.99 fonts - http://www.twopeasinabucket.com/shop.asp?derMars=110619
I believe their Autumn Leaves collection are rip offs of well-known "sophisticated" fonts...

Hope that helps.

@fad:... i found lotsa stuff there that i couldnt find elsewhere.. ...

Really? To me it looks like that (your?) site is a copy of the contents of 1001 fonts. So I found nothing there that I can't find here ... or at 1001 fonts for that matter.

Have fun and ... be nice to the cats
