Inspired by the diverse and dynamic neighborhoods around their studio, kapitza’s most recent work is about observing and recording the transient nature of inner-city populations. This visual research results in vibrant sets of silhouettes with site-specific names like ‘Liverpool Street’, ‘Victoria Park’ and ‘Brick Lane’. This ongoing project charts the visual component of local transformation, managing to reflect something that is deeper, invisible and beyond the surface. These fresh, creative typologies make sense of sensory overload. Though stark and simple, these silhouettes make the increasingly complex connections between people (s) and place(s). Somehow identities are represented in the absence of context and locations are curiously referenced without surroundings. By focusing on an area’s inhabitants, their work highlights distinct subtleties regarding the interplay time and place.

Nosta is a modern text typeface. It was designed to be easily legible and therefore expressly suitable for setting sizeable lengths of continuous text such as magazine articles, books and essays. It achieves this through, amongst other things, finely balanced proportions, optimal character spacing and an adherence to predictable letter forms. Despite this, however, Nosta manages to retain a contemporary look and feel by using a variety of modern type design devices such as the efficacious wedge serif. The italic avoids using too many of the cursive elements that are often found in traditional italics and has only a modest slant, giving it a modern look that does not overly disrupt the text while still providing emphasis. I want to create a font, which is very elegant. So I made Danizatti Script, a kind of classic decorative script with a modern twist. This is a display font intended for vintage logos, fashion labels, custom card headers, badges, food packaging designs, especially wine labels. My pet peeve for many years has been with the 'rn' in small texts, especially with my smart phone. I felt that perhaps others may have the same peeve. I decided to try and fix that with Atlantica. As you can see in poster No. 4. "With the combination of 'rn' in small text it tends to appear as 'm'. Therefore it may be read as 's t e m' instead of 's t e r n'. Altalntica has an alternate 'rn'. By invoking the < Contextual-Alternate > feature. Atlantica will replace each 'rn' - or you may individually change them if you desire". Also note the deep cuts to help legibility for smaller texts. This combination apparently does not appear in many words, but when it does it can suggest a different word as in; eastern, stern, tarnish, Tornado, Turn and in some names as well.

Designed in 1928 by Alessandro Butti under the direction of Raffaello Bertieri for the Nebiolo foundry, Paganini defies standard categorization. While it definitely is a classic foundry text face with obvious roots in the "oldstyle" of the Italian renaissance, its contrast reveals a clear underlying modern influence. This set of initial letters is an entirely original creation, inspired by French renaissance patterns used by Bordeaux printers circa 1580-1590. It contains two roman alphabets : the first of decorated letters, the second of single large capitals, all with Garamond style, and a few fleurons using the same background pattern style. Some typefaces are more deserving of the reference "original typeface design" than are others. Such a typeface is Steve's Safefont GD. It is indeed safe to say that this design has caused some controversy. However, the management of Galapagos Design Group believes that the message of the typeface, even before its characters are used to form words in print, is important enough-and the design itself compelling enough-to warrant the risk of any unintended offense it might cause. Safefont GD is made up of condoms, in various shapes and sizes. The design originated as a lampoon of contemporary-punk- and -garagefont- designs of the nineties. It soon evolved into the quintessence of socially conscious design. Steve suggests this typeface could be "useful as a public service font aimed at important health and social issues." In addition, Safefont GD lends itself to a wide range of fun uses.

This family was inspired by the pure Garamond pattern set of fonts used by Egenolff and Berner, German printers in Frankfurt, at the end of the sixteenth century. All the experts said it was the best and most complete set of the time. The italic style used with it was Granjon’s, as in 1543 Humane Jenson. A few fleurons from the same printers have been added.
