Blue Goblet is a script developed for the pending illustrated children’s book from Portland Studios, The Blue Goblet. The font has grown to a comprehensive system, with a wide array of ornaments available. Blue Goblet is usable in a wide range of settings, and includes a full complement of OpenType features and a more playful alternate. Blue Goblet is a collaboration between Portland Studios and insigne. It was designed by Cory Godbey and digitized by Jeremy Dooley.

URLOP is an all-caps display collection consisting of three sub-families of fonts, divided by the usage they are designed for. First of all, there is a wide range of alphabets made in the new OpenType-SVG colour fonts format. This is quite a novelty and a very promising technology at the same time. It allows designers to store colour information inside the font. Due to my experience with layered colour thinking that I explored in my first family - Epilepsja , I decided to make several preset layer combinations in this auspicious format. This sub-group is tagged RGB. Make sure that your field of usage and software support OT-SVG format. However, if you feel a need to experiment in the old-fashioned way, you may buy separate layers under the DIY tag. The last group is very similar to the DIY, but it was optimized to look better when standing without other layers. It’s called PRO*. Barrowboy was inspired by the handwritten sales tickets that are still to be found on market stalls and fruit barrows, and are as familiar as the street cries that accompany them. The typeface Modernistic, designed by Wadsworth A. Parker for American Type Founders in 1927, provided the design cues for this typeface which, unlike the original, includes lowercase letters. Best used sparingly for dramatic and memorable headlines. Both versions of this font contain the complete Unicode 1252 (Latin) and Unicode 1250 (Central European) character sets, with localization for Romanian and Moldovan.

A colorful floral book that I found at a flea market inspired me to make the font Herbarium. What started as floral letter illustrations in 2009 has now developed into a writable font. My main intention was to make each letter like a little artwork so that they all could fit as a drop cap. Herbarium is also a good choice for headlines.

Zirkle is a monoline font in which the upper-case letters were designed from circles or bits of circles, with interior straight lines. It was the first font I designed in Fontographer when Fontographer was still in version 2 and the most advanced Macintosh was the Macintosh II. I have heard from people who like it, but it was designed not to meet some need but to play with the geometry of circle-based letters. ZirkStressed is a “squared” version that was the result of playing with a font distortion program, which in this case produced a result that seemed interesting.

I have upgraded my existing font software and also bought new font software to play around with. It takes some time getting used to working with it; the upgraded software feels similar to what I am used to, but handles things differently and the new software is intuitive, but comes with its own language and ways of doing things. I spend most days reading the handbooks and watching online tutorials, but I did manage to create a font. Steamed is a hand drawn all caps display font that comes with a whole bunch of accented glyphs (even Vietnamese) to play around with.

Letters in circles are certainly nothing new typographically, but nonetheless they were a favorite tool for sign makers in past decades for emphasizing names or key words in a message. Inspired by an image of an old-time hardware store sign in New York City with Franklinesque lettering, it has been reproduced as Circuletter JNL.

Spanish Main is a revival of an old MacKeller Smiths & Jordan font named Sloping Black. Like most foundries MacKeller Smiths & Jordan doesn't display all the letters of the fonts in their specimen books so it took a little more time to find the complete character set for this old beautiful classic font.
