He described himself to journalists as nothing more than "a Good Samaritan", and has continued to help his fellow man in Astro City ever since. John JG Roshell has also been struggling with the empyrean challenge of fitting all of Kurt Busiek's ASTRO CITY dialogue into balloons with the regular Samaritan font, so he created the Samaritan Tall font to help his fellow comic book letterers! Julia Script is a playful calligraphic font designed by David Harris in 1983. It takes the viewer back to the flower power of the 1970s. Characteristic of this typeface and similar to Candice is the marked increase in stroke width in the lower third of the figures. This detail is reminiscent of the platform shoes typical of the 1970s. The inspiration for this font came from a wall-writing in Cuba. At first glance we thought: "There is something wrong with the wall-writing." But a closer look revealed, that it just mixed up different stroke-styles. That "feature" became the designing principle behind CA Segundo: Round characters like O, U or C are available either with a fat or a thin stroke, whereas other characters with orthogonal lines come in two different styles – uppercase characters emphasize the vertical strokes, while lower cases emphasize the horizontal strokes. This gives you the opportunity to design just while you type.
