These six faces are interpreted from examples shown in Rob Roy Kelly's "American Wood Types" They are not merely scanned copies, but have been redrawn from scratch with various optical adjustments. Kelly points out that the true glory of the American Wood Types are the negative spaces, which are, in their dynamic active forms, the antithesis of the anemic flimsy letters produced by type foundries in the 19th century. The Alphabets Wood Types are designed with digital manipulation in mind. Stretch, curve and distort at will! These designs were released prior to similar revivals from Adobe. Each font has two full alphabets (one full height, one smaller) and numerals. However, certain points and accents will not be found.

Inline Square JNL is modeled from the hand lettered title found on the 1935 sheet music for "Cielito Lindo (Beautiful Heaven)", and is available in both regular and oblique versions.

A design experiment run amok! To some, the upper case A of this font resembles a diving helmet. If you put same on a guy in a gorilla suit, you have the really cheesy 50s sci-fi movie that gives the font its name. Both versions of this font contain the Unicode 1252 (Latin) and Unicode 1250 (Central European) character sets, with localization for Romanian and Moldovan.

Deco Geometric Stencil JNL was inspired by an example of a vintage Art Deco stencil type design seen in the Steven Heller-Louise Fili book "Stencil Type" (published by Thames and Hudson).

The initial characters in China Market were created in 1996 for a logo featuring the Temple of Heaven in Beijing where emperors from the Ming and Qing dynasties worshiped heaven and prayed for abundant harvests. The font was completed in 2010. It is composed of a regularly positioned curved and straight components as if part of a decorative grillwork or other architectural detail. While its influences and origins are clear, its appearance is relies more upon the geometry of its basic elements and the modular structure than a specific stylistic idiom.

Czech Stencil JNL was modeled from examples of a 1930s-era typeface from Czechoslovokia called "Patrona Grotesk" as seen in the Steven Heller-Louise Fili book "Stencil Type" (published by Thames and Hudson).

Originally created in 2003, this font was archived awaiting a decision whether to complete it or delete it. I finally decided to finish it.

Rotulo is a contrasted sans family which combines the Thick & Thin signpainter's style and some 70s feeling in a huge font family with 90 styles. A visit to an exhibition of Spanish movie posters by Jano was the beginning of Rótulo (Spanish for Sign) project. Classic thick & thin signpainter style was featured in many letterings of those posters, as it was a very common style in 60s and 70s Spanish design. Unfortunately, today very few Contrasted Sans are seen, something that was quite common years ago has fallen into disuse in favor of Helvetic monotony. Rótulo recapture all that personality, with an extense range of weights and widths to be used in striking headlines and short texts.

Judo ND is a wide-point italic typeface digitized in close collaboration with Helmut Matheis in honor of his long career and loyalty to typographic beauty. It brings spontaneity and elegance to its uses, always maintaining legibility. Judo is a Trademark of BauerTypes SL

Inspired from fragments peeled from the helmet of retired stunt-man Andras Balaset, font designer Allen Mercer of Alive fonts has created an alphabet ready to give you the best performance in a variety of conditions. As always, I prefer not to take short cuts and provide an anemic offering of glyphs — a modern typeface offered today must provide more than just the basics and this one does — lowercase, smallcaps, old style numerals, tabular forms, stylistic and titling alternates, fractions, case-sensitive features, and even an alternate uppercase ordinal set is included. Fly your inner geek flag with this cool new "Eleet" typewriter font. It's kinda like a wonky internet translator that converts normal text into leet-speak, so you can exchange encoded love notes with cyber-hackers and goofy-gamers. In 1957, Helmut Matheis designed Charme for the Ludwig and Mayer type foundry, located in Frankfurt am Main, Germany. This informal script is of medium weight and has some variation of color. The caps are flowing and the lower case letters are close fitting. Their is a bold companion, called Slogan.

Alphaluxe is a distinctive new typeface from Wesley Poole of Hawai’i. This vertical script packs a velvet punch. It compels attention like the best of the futuristic Moderne scripts from the 1930s, (refined by the 1950s) with none of the bulk. The shapes are strong, their rendering light. Fortunately, Mr. Poole can't break his addiction to elegance and sophistication. It's a classy alphabet. but not self-conscious or stereotypical. Contributing mightily to this effort is Rod Cavazos (Psy/Ops, San Francisco). Among today's typefaces, Alphaluxe is a rare achievement.

This is a type design based on a retrospective food design posters from 1950 in the United States. The intention was to create handmade letters ideal for handmade projects. The principal reference was the book of Steven Heller Mid-Century Ads. This typeface was the graduation project of my degree as graphic designer.
