Here is a decorative condensed antique design that is sure to fit a variety of contemporary situations. The Bruce Type Foundry (later acquired by V. B. Munson) developed this wonderfully shaded Tuscan in the 1880s - or possibly earlier. It was known back then as Style No. 1050 and carried a pronounced three-dimensional look with a thin hairline at the bottom and right of each stroke. It is best to use Frisco Antique in large display sizes because it is easy to lose these delicate hairlines. A lowercase and several alternate characters have been provided for your convenience. Frisco Antique Display is also available in the OpenType Std format. Some new characters have been added to this OpenType version. Advanced features currently work in Adobe Creative Suite InDesign, Creative Suite Illustrator, and Quark XPress. Twirrewyn is Frisian for ‘Whirlwind’. I have always liked the Frisian language; it’s like a crossover between English and Dutch. When I studied journalism in Zwolle (a city close to Fryslân) there were a lot of Frisian students and I did pick up a few words! Twirrewyn is a handmade font family: the fat version was made using a brush and ink; the light version was made using that same ink, but with a broken satay skewer instead of a brush. And yes, you have guessed right, we eat a lot of Satay! ;-)

Afrikana is based on various African letters and signs. The main inspiration for making this typeface was the book by Saki Mafundikwa, Afrikan Alphabets. Letters were designed based on signs and characters from African alphabets. They were than cut out of cardboard, scanned, traced and put in a font. You are free to modify the font in any way and have fun with it.

Kalimba (name of an African percussion musical instrument) is inspired from common simple shapes present in many visual elements of African and Afro-American cultures. I named the font "Sangoma" after the traditional healers of the Southern African tribes. Sangomas often work by "throwing bones". The shapes of the bones have suggested the shapes of the characters in the Sangoma font. The font is useful for creating designs or producing text that has an African look. Typified by an African angularity the characters reflect the ethos of Africa. The Sangoma font contains the full range of upper and lower case characters, all punctuation and special characters as well as the accented characters used in the major European languages.

Utshani means "grass" in the African language: Zulu. Grass has softness but it also has great strength and many African craft implements are made from it. When we describe someone as being "like the grass", it is meant as a compliment for it means that they can be tender and strong. The fluid African font, Utshani, was designed to suggest the flexibility and strength of grass. In this way it contrasts with the majority of other "African-inspired" fonts, which tend to be heavy and hard-edged. It can be used in a wide variety of situations, in adverts and on posters and invitations. The font includes all upper and lower case letters, all numerals and punctuation as well as all special and accented characters. The font has been professionally letterspaced and kerned, and the inter-line gap has been carefully checked.

Tshikona is casual and vigorous font with a taste of African spice. The line of the letters is reminiscent of the angular, dry branches of trees in the African veldt.
