Twirrewyn is Frisian for ‘Whirlwind’. I have always liked the Frisian language; it’s like a crossover between English and Dutch. When I studied journalism in Zwolle (a city close to Fryslân) there were a lot of Frisian students and I did pick up a few words! Twirrewyn is a handmade font family: the fat version was made using a brush and ink; the light version was made using that same ink, but with a broken satay skewer instead of a brush. And yes, you have guessed right, we eat a lot of Satay! ;-)

The extravagant Odin was designed by Bob Newman in 1972. Its figures display constructed basic forms and when set into words, the typeface builds closely set lines. The strong serifs catch the reader's eye and draws it horizontally across the page. The forms of the capital letters are particularly distinctive. In the upper third, the stroke beginnings seem to form a roof over the body of the letter, fragmented by a fine white line that lends them independence and dominance. Leo is an economic magazine and book face meant for use in sizes suitable for immersive reading, with different cuts optimized for different body copy size ranges, like footnotes and legal text. Designed with the explicit intent of relaying information without calling attention to itself, this typeface places itself squarely on the "function" side of the eternal debate about form versus content.
