In drawing the Avenir® typeface, Adrian Frutiger looked to both the past and the future for inspiration. His goal was to reinterpret the geometric sans serif designs of the early part of the 20th century in a typeface that would portend aesthetics of the 21st century. He succeeded handsomely. In doing so, Frutiger added a bit of organic humanism to the design, freeing Avenir from the rigid geometric overtones of the earlier designs. Avenir is employed on signage at Dallas Fort Worth and Hong Kong international airports. The city of Amsterdam adopted Avenir as its corporate typeface in 2003. The original Avenir family is made up of designs with gradual weight changes in order to satisfy the needs of specific text applications. While the book and light weights have similar stroke widths, the book weight is well suited for body text, whereas the light was designed for captions and subhead text. Bold Fashion is a heavy slab-serif font of the disco era. Two Cents Plain JNL is a simple sans design for titling, sign work, display ads and so forth. The name is derived from the way folks in the Northeast used to ask for a glass of seltzer water at restaurants and soda fountains decades ago: "Give me a two cents plain." It was always cheaper to order plain seltzer than to have flavored syrup added, and this was especially true in the years during the Great Depression when every penny made a difference.

Normandy Isle JNL is a condensed sanserif typeface built off of the basic design of an old wood type, but augmented with thick and thin lines to create a whole different look. The font itself is named after a community in the North end of Miami Beach.

Pomponianus comes from a 4th century inscription found in North Africa. It is an attractive example of early uncial lettering. Uncial inscriptions are quite uncommon, because although the style was well suited for writing on vellum, the curved letters made it more difficult to carve in stone.

Designed specifically for AT&T to set telephone directories by Chauncey Griffith at Mergenthaler in 1938, Bell Gothic was the standard American directory typeface for forty years. Limited in performance by linecaster matrix requirements, Bell Gothic was replaced by Bell Centennial. Furlong is a version of Bell Gothic adapted for the racing form.

This font provides a typical set of characters for the ancient Imperial Aramaic language (the form of Aramaic that saw widespread use in the Persian Empire during the sixth to fourth centuries BC). It includes a full set of alphabetic characters, including some variant shapes, as well as the ancient numeral forms.

One good pun is worth a simple description… Nondescript JNL… 'Non' - not. 'de' - of, in Spanish. script - a cursive (handwritten) letter form. So… while nondescript generally means lacking any defining description, in this case it also means "not of a script"… which is precisely what a typeface such as this one is!

The Wall Street Journal commissioned Escrow. Cyrus Highsmith designed forty-four styles in this new Scotch series, which sets the tone of the front page of the Journal, envy of the newspaper industry. Escrow Banner, drawn by Richard Lipton based on Cyrus Highsmith’s design, is aimed at the very largest headlines or titles.

Zellige is a modular typeface inspired by the tiles that can be found in Southern Europe and North Africa. Made of ornamental geometric shapes, with two layers for improved legibility, Zellige reflects the luxurious and sophisticated flare of the mediterranean spirit of architectonical composition, employing the latin script into very baroque shapes.

Conundrum is a cool, rough brush font, quickly painted on paper, so it looks natural and organic. If you want a font character that is unique and different than others, Conundrum is worth a try. Eckhardt Freehand JNL is the fourth font based on the lettering of sign painters and show card writers. Jeff Levine has chosen to name this “mini series” of fonts in honor of his friend Albert Eckhardt, Jr., a talented sign man who ran Allied Signs [in Miami, Florida] from 1959 until his passing in 2005.

Fong Shay Noon JNL is a non-traditional approach to an Oriental-styled font as there are some letter forms with curves and others with straight lines. The name derives from a Chinese restaurant in North Miami Beach, Florida during the 1960s, which in turn took its name from a play on a Yiddish phrase.

Forty-six snowflake designs from the Snowflake Assortment font were three-dimensionally rotated to various viewing angles other than perpendicular (which is how they are viewed in the Snowflake Assortment). Holding the modifier keys, Shift, Option, Shift + Option, and typing the same character will access different views of the same leaf. Font contains 180 characters.
