The letterforms are based on Inserat Cursive, a bold script popular in the late nineteenth century; the treatment was suggested by cover artwork for Graphic Styles from Victorian to Post-Modern, written by Stephen Heller and designed by Seymour Chwast. Some words from the designer... West coast artist Teri Kahan developed a "design font" of 68 pictographs capturing the sentiments of relationship, connection and synchronicity. I was cleaning out my pencil box and found an old marker pen. I wanted to throw it away, because it was leaking all over my stuff, but decided I could use it one more time. The result is Full Blast font: a ‘brush’ font (made with that leaking old marker pen). Use if for your fireworks packaging, fiery pepper sauce bottles and whoopee cushions (and just about anything else as well). Comes with an explosive amount of diacritics.

The 1960s was the most tumultuous decade of the 20th century. Sixties Symbols JNL collects twenty-six icons and phrases from that time of change and unrest including the peace symbol, a dove, a daisy—even the militant 'power fist' that signified rebellion against mainstream society. Benton Modern was first prepared as a text face by Font Bureau for the Boston Globe and the Detroit Free Press. Design and proportions were taken from Morris Fuller Benton’s turn-of-the-century Century Expanded, drawn for ATF, faithfully reviving this epoch-making magazine and news text roman.
