Geometron has its origin in a custom typeface that I was commissioned to design for an architectural project. The concept was a "back to basics", minimalist typeface constructed mainly with straight lines and circles or circular arcs, but without departing from the classical style of Roman & Greek lettering. Notable requirements were: an extensive character set needed for multi-language documentation, as well as a full collection of symbols and alternate glyph forms (e.g. superiors & inferiors) for scientific use. Special care was taken to obviate the almost identical similarities that were prone to appear between letters like uppercase "i" and lowercase "L" or between Latin and Greek letters such as "a" and "alpha". This was also a prerequisite for scientific notation where ambiguity is not acceptable. All in all, the font would have to blend a modern design with a wealth of functional features. Consequently, all of these were made possible by choosing the OpenType format for development, resulting in a comprehensive and feature-rich font family specifically targeted for use in high-end design/typesetting applications.

Time to EMbrace the new EMerging typeface from WiltonFoundry : EM consisting of EM Regular, EM Italic, EM Bold, EM Bold Italic. Loosely based on our very popular Cyan typeface, EM is EMphatically the most distinctive and modern typeface we’ve created yet. Slight variations between thick and thin with stenciled effects, and Flared stem EMphasis for character. Go get’EM!!

Ceres is has its roots in Cyan, our other font family. Like Cyan, Ceres has a complementary lowercase that provides more versatility than a classic Roman. It is arguably more elegant than Cyan with its accentuated serifs. The lowercase "e" and "g" give Ceres a distinct calligraphic personality. Ceres, the font, derived its name from Ceres the Roman goddess. In Roman mythology, Ceres is the goddess of growing plants (particularly cereals) and of motherly love. Ceres was usually equated with the Greek goddess Demeter. Ceres was the daughter of Saturn and Ops, wife-sister of Jupiter, mother of Proserpina by Jupiter and sister of Juno, Vesta, Neptune and Pluto. Ceres made up a trinity with Liber and Libera, who were two other agricultural gods. She also had twelve minor gods who assisted her, and they were in charge of specific aspects of farming.

Designed with a hand-chiseled feel, Blau’s sculpted characters add a refined personality to a wide range of brand, corporate, product and service applications. Highlighting the sculpted theme, inkwell treatment variations are prevalent throughout Blau, with several key glyphs that are stenciled for increased legibility. The name Blau was chosen to celebrate the color Blue (or Blau in German, Blaauw in Dutch, Bleu French, Blå in Norwegian, Swedish & Danish, Blua in Esperanto, Blár in Icelandic) Blue is nature’s color for water, sky, mountains and glaciers. Blue is embraced as the color of heaven and authority, denim jeans and corporate logos. Surveys in the US and Europe show that blue is the color most commonly associated with harmony, faithfulness, confidence, distance, infinity, the imagination, and cold. In US and European public opinion polls, it is the most popular color, chosen by both men and women as their favorite color. Another very popular Wilton Foundry font in the “blue” family is “Cyan” and “Cyan Neue”.
