Anago shares the same DNA as its sibling Macha, but is a completely different species than the former or any of my other sans serifs (Aaux Next, Air, Akagi Pro or Wasabi). This is the display version of Librum. Librum means “book” in Latin, which I thought was appropriate. Bream is Latin for proclaim—appropriate for display work. The fonts are very close to Librum-Book and Librum-Italic, with the same OpenType features. The glyphs are modified a bit to make them a little more elegant, but that’s not very noticeable. Mainly, the letterspacing and kerning is tighter and more carefully fit to large point sizes. As for classification, I like oldstyle, Venetian, geralde, English oldstyle. There’s discrete modulation, slanted crossbars, full brackets serifs of medium thickness and sharp cut ends. Buddy is the new companion sans for Contenu, the book font family designed for my book on font design design. Originally, I called it Compagnon, but that seemed to pompous. Then I called it Aide, but that was too formal and dry. It's a loose, free, easy to read sans, so when my wife suggested Buddy, it clicked. This is the 4-font Buddy family of Regular, Italic, Bold, & Bold Italic. I made a new, more limited feature set for these fonts due to their designed usage, but there are still small caps, small cap figures, oldstyle figures, numerators, and denominators. The bold is closer to a black, and the italics are only slightly slanted obliques. If you need a strong black in caps, use the small caps of the bold.

Warren Chappell was the original designer of this handsome pen-formed roman typeface introduced by the Stempel Foundry in 1939. It was cast in Germany as Trajanus and named after the Roman emperor whose accomplishments are preserved on the Trajan Column in Rome. This version, Tribunus, retains the same rugged but handsome quality of the oldstyle original. A set of italic oldstyle figures are included with the italic roman. Tribunus is also available in the OpenType Std format. Some new characters have been added to this OpenType version. Advanced features currently work in Adobe Creative Suite InDesign, Creative Suite Illustrator, and Quark XPress 7. Check for OpenType advanced feature support in other applications as it gradually becomes available with upgrades.
