I've always been drawn to the beautiful typography of whiskey, gin, rum & bourbon bottle labels, as they enhanced the history that is behind this aged old spirits. Umerica first made its appearance in 2007 as a series of characters in a pdf I posted to Typophile. It has taken a lot of time, and determination, for me to finally decide to complete it. I had the basic font completed in 2008, but put it aside as the creation of the italics it deserved were beyond me. That was then. Now the italic version has finally been added twelve years later.

This font is not overly distressed, nor is it overly clean. It is a typewriter font. It is perfect when you want a document to look like it was made on a typewriter. This font is primarily based on the typewriter used for a typographic conference document from 1966 in Mainz Germany. The model and age of the typewriter used is not known. Additional characters were sourced from other vintage typewriters and others were designed to complete the full character set.

Typewriter Revo is based on Typewriter BasiX but it is completely redesigned: While Typewriter BasiX has dapples and grunge (which looks more realistic), the contours of Typewriter Revo crisp and clear. Typewriter Revo is more suitable for continuous text while Typewriter BasiX and Typewriter DirtY are suitable for large Pictures, logos or headings. In contrast to Typewriter BasiX, Typewriter Revo includes 11 more characters and is also available in a bold, italic and bold + italic version.

This font has all of the effects a typewriter machine can offer you: a regular version, a strong hit version, a light distressed version, a double-hit version and X version, which is a compilation of several typewriter mistakes, tests and stains. This font is specially handy when trying to use a typewriter effect on an edgy/grunge work, where there's no worry about perfection!
