2 matches comment [quote:920a09515d="alex"] it's slowly shifting towards it.. when i just started with AF 80% were on 640*480... then we moved up to 800*600 and its getting close to 1024*768 lately.. hmm.. maybe i should open up a templates section on AF.. and wallpapers as well... i've got 1000+... what do you think? [/quote:920a09515d] Maybe, but I think you are doing a great job with the fonts and maybe you should stick with that. The reason I get so many hits to the templates section is beacause I only traded links with template sites. Personally I think this is one of the best font sites I've seen, and it's free. With 9,000+ fonts I think this should grow on it's own soon. Thanks, Paul
1 matches comment yea, i would only get servers on demand.. 3 dedicated servers was a little ambitious ;) i'd start with 1 ( on top of this one with AF on it ) are you doing the hosting out of your house or collocating? Because it might even save you some money doing it out of your house. Some T1 providers even give you unlimited bandwidth!!! I am very interested in that since AF alone does 500-600 GB /month
1 matches comment i will disagree. i have worked with printed magazines. as long as your shapes in photoshop are in vector format and not rasterized, you can save that file at any DPI, set it to 300, 600, etc. You have the same output "crispiness" flexibility as in illustrator. Let me say that again, the vector shapes in photoshop are as crisp as the lines in illustrator. still, illustrator does have particular advantages and if you are VERY VERY HARDCORE (yes in capital letters) you might have to get illustrator on top of photoshop
1 matches comment Goto high-ligic.com Get Font creator Scan your text at high resolution (min 600 dpt) B/W Save every single character as a single BMP Import in Font Creator. Do think about the kearning so that the characters match correctly. See your example Save as a font with a clone name. Carcefully look at the copyright lines, otherwise it's not yours. Bingo. Done. Piece of cake. Great thing: you can eat it AND have your font You have 30 days or you will have to pay. Which after this exercise you will do happily do anyway because it is a good program. Missing any characters? Tell me.
1 matches comment i know its an old post, but i will answer for the google searchers like me :) gahtering info from http://newsgroups.derkeiler.com/Archive/Comp/comp.fonts/2006-06/msg00002.html "this is my very humble opinion, and a correct answer (for screen purpose only) could be: Part 1: FON to BDF Convertion. For example, using the Macromedia Fontographer ver.4.1 (Windows 98, not XP!): - File->New Font, - File->Import->Bitmaps... (a_font.fon), - File->Generate Font Files... (output bitmap font format: BDF), - Rename "untitled.YY" to "a_font.bdf", - Remember the values followed after the keyword "FONTBOUNDINGBOX" in a_font.bdf - the font's WIDTH, HEIGHT, LEFT, BOTTOM (for example: 8 12 0 -2), - Replace all "SWIDTH 0 0" and "SWIDTH 1000 0" values with "SWIDTH 0", where WIDTH1 = WIDTH * 1000 / HEIGHT (for example: "SWIDTH 667 0"). Part 2: BDF to TTF Convertion (Using FontLab Studio 5). - File->New, - File->Font Info->Names and Copyright->Full Name: a_font, - File->Font Info->Metrics and Dimensions: Set "Font's UPM size" to HEIGHT*100, scaling glyphs (1200), - File->Import->Bitmap Font... (a_font.bdf), - Edit->Select All, - Tools->Background->Trace Pixels, - (If needed) Select the "space" cell, execute: Glyph->Create Glyphs and Tools->Action->Metrics->Set width: (667), - File->Font Info->Metrics and Dimensions: adjust the values according to the "Font's UPM size", for example (assume "UPM size" = 1200): [Key dimensions] Ascender = 900 Descender = -200 Caps height = 900 x height = 600 Check "Font is monospaced" if needed .... [TrueType-specific metrics] : "Set custom values" : Typo Ascender = 900 Typo Descender = -200 Typo Line Gap = 0 WinAscent = 1000 WinDescent = -200 .... - File->Generate Font: a_font.ttf My best wishes to all Ladies :) Thank You.
