I am looking for a font w/ people, preferably kids, making letters either w/ their whole bodies or like "YMCA." I swear I've seen that type of logo, but does it exist as a font? FYI, this is for a community coalition that serves kids.

No, unfortunately I'm not being involved in a new project for a daily newspaper. It was possible some months ago, but the people who were starting it changed their minds and are actually thinking about an online daily.
However, what typefaces would you use for titles, and which for text body, subcaption and such?
I've always supported the use of Melior (http://www.linotype.com/1222/melior-family.html) for the body, while a traditional Franklin Gothic (http://www.linotype.com/463/franklingothic-family.html) would have worked out nice for the titles and boxes.
So, what would be your pick(s)?

Thanks Neogray, this whole font thing is still pretty new to me even after 3 years. I am not familiar with Fontlab at all, The way it uses coding to kern and stuff is new to me as opposed to FontCreator being very easy to use.
I've been able to preview St.Andrew on my PC, keep in mind the previewing is not really the important key here as compatibility is on operating systems. I'll try to find out if the OTF you've created works on MAC, I am grateful for your help so thank you.
I actually don't know how to optimize fonts, I just know people like them if they have alot of detail especially with prints and clothing. At the same time the size is also making it difficult to even view or open.
Koeiekat I don't know what you mean by these "megabytes" things being useless, the font size is only large because of the detail that each glyph has. Computers are capable of opening large font files and if I lose detail in the fonts then that defeats the purpose of their creation.

I loved Jem, and actually planned on making a Jem-styled font, since there wasn't one available, and of course because I loved that cartoon when I was little.
Before I began designing the font I did a little more research, and it turns out that the copyright protection/trademarks of the Jem likeness/franchise stricly prohibit and restrict using the Jem likeness, which is fiercly guarded by the owners of the trademark & copyright.
So, I of course did not continue with the idea of making the font.
However, there still could be a Jem font somewhere, and/or even an official font used by Jem but I don't know of it. So I too am interested in finding it if anyone can.
***ATTN Font designers/authors/makers: If the copyright restrictions change or if it is discovered that making such a font does not violate those restrictions, I hereby call dibbs! Nymphont is making it. He he.

sorry for being intrusive, but i want to see who gets into making fonts... ;) Maybe this will grow to be an interview :D
I've attemted it myself few years back but i didnt really understand the curves and all the other good stuff that you should know to use Fontographer so the results were not nearly as good as i wished.
- What is your main occupation? Studying? Working?
- Planning on making commercial fonts?
- What do you think of the copyright laws concerning fonts ( in North America and/or in Australia )
Winter is over here... finally! want to see some sun! Actually I have relatives living in Perth, they just moved there a year ago, or so...

Hey, I'm making a title for a video we're making and I want to bite the intro from the big lebowski, I found the font for big, but the other one, the and lebowski, is proving quite difficult. If anyone knows what it is, or at least what category to look in that would be awesome.
Thanks, Justin

If you want to know why I need these fonts, you'll see the answer in one of the previous posts on this 'subject.' Anyway, I'm making a new movie and really need this particular font for the title. If My old friend Ute, or my new friend BiG or maybe someone else could help me, I'd really appreciate it.

Why is Incarnation restricted for use in making a PDF? Are all fonts so restricted?
I created a card and wanted to send a PDF to a friend. On creating the PDF, I get a system message: "This font could not be embedded due to restrictions in the font file. The font file must be installed to view or print this file properly with Adobe Acrobat."
I had properly installed the font in XP.
The PDF was created and looked OK; not so on another computer which did not have this font installed.
Are free fonts not free if I want to make a PDF?
Might someone help and advise? Many thanks.
