1 posts view forum post #5478 hello, hello. i just joined the forums tonight and was wondering if you got the categorization project taken care of yet alex? i noticed the conversations about getting a move on it, but then suddenly all word about the project seemed to stop and i couldn't quite figure out whether the work still needed to be done or not. if so, i'm defenitely interested. please let me know.
2 posts view forum post #14208 Hahahaha, yeah. That was bulldog and pitbull at their best. Wayyyyyy before my time. But! As you said, RF, waaayyyy before MODs were present. When I joined in 2005 (?) it was not unlike in these halls. And, as I see it, that were the reasons why the brilliant brains of Puck and JRZ didn't make it to MOD, because their language and behaviour was inacceptable sometimes. Very *cough* temperamental in some cases, although they were brilliant at typefaces. Had to say it wice. And, as I read and experienced, you were one of the moral majorities there, RF! So, don't you want to join the Dafont-cave again? Hm? You know where to login. Vinz has sent you the data by email. The Dafont-MODs are still alive. At least most of them.
1 posts view forum post #10826 uploaded image Richard William Mueller named it Ragged and Jagged. Why the two different names?? Maybe Richard knows. As both look a bit thinner than your example and probaply joined a termite party they may be based on something else. Yet have not found that. EDIT: Not yet here on Abstractfonts. I' upload the ragged.
1 posts view forum post #16921 The perfect font for this is 101! Hands Across America. Its pictures of children with their hands joined, and the letters are on their shirts. It's freeware, but you'll have to look for it yourself. If you leave an e-mail address in this thread, I'll send it to you.
1 posts view forum post #12729 uploaded image Hi! I just joined here and I'm very interested in clean, clear and sharp typewriter fonts. Does anyone know where I might get what was originally an IBM Selectric typewriter font known as Advocate or Scribe? (They're both the same font, only different pitches.) A free download would be a plus! I have searched for this but have never found it. Any information would be appreciated. Thanks in advance !
1 posts view forum post #11673 Hi Schwalben, thanks for taking the time to reply. You are right, looking at it the Primavera it does seem like a stretched version of the clarendon. The Vespa and the Lambrettista are just what I needed. Both needed to be messed with for what I wanted. (Had to edit them in outline mode in Illustrator to move the joins). The Lambrettista and the Vespa are very like the Ferrorosso in the way that they are joined (A bit like Brush script aswell). Until the next time! Kind Regards GaryM
1 posts view forum post #14475 hey guys, I just joined the forums and im looking for a font. I want to get my last name tattooed on my back in the font thats used for Grand Theft Auto San Andreas. It may be like a latin font? I know its not Old English but similar to it. Also, is there like a site where i could type in my name with that font and see what it would look like? Maybe this site offers that but i havent checked yet. thanks alot, Spencer
1 posts view forum post #4868 Well my friend the chinese do not have as we in the world of the west a thing as a alphabet. they use a system of strokes to denote words or sounds to be joined that in turn can mean completely diffrent words so unless you know 1) what the words you want are in chinese ( be it cantonese or mandarin the main dilects among several hundred in china) or the charaters that would make the sounds of the words in english (sound simulation). I would stay clear of this line of thought. 2) The japanese have also a charater based writen form almost the same as chinese but also have a second form of writing called Kanji which is used to make the sounds of western words which they have no actual japanese meanings such as brand names. take the this not as a step back but as a step in the right direction it may be easier to find some one to write out what you need and then take it from there. But be worned that in both chinese and japanese there is one indavidual charecter for every word in the language. and these words cannot be broken down into letters as we know it. Its more than a font thing. you can't just get a chinese font and type in the charcters as they apear on your key board and spell out what you want, it would't make any sense, not phoneticly or in the actual language. My final advise find a simulation font its where that latin alphabet takes on the shapes and almost looks oriental, much quiker. GooD Luck BiG
