1 posts view forum post #4934 Digibats..um..it's a word i just made up meaning dingbats made with photos from a digital camera. "my scanner is wrecked. It's actually in bits, i thought i'd be able to fix it - i never put it back together again...anyway...what i'm getting at is that all of the images in the font were taken using my digital camera, it's all stuff in my house. Yeah, they're raw, they're lo-fi, but they have a purpose on this planet. backgrounds. layering. drop these dings at a slighly darker hue than your background then sprinkle your text on top. hey....don't listen to me..you can do what you like with them. expect more digital camera > crankin up mad contrast in photoshop then ramming it thru streamline and fontographer..... it's got a kinda punky vibe, with the finger, sid, courtney, growler, the sneaker.......ok i'll cut to the chase....." http://www.hostage.freeserve.co.uk/type.html Checkkitout Does anyone else use this method for making fonts/dings? Or am i a freak. Cheers Alan - Digi-bats
1 posts view forum post #7828 Ok i was fiddling around with a veiw layers and filters and i came up with this very neat abstact picture. I will wrun you through a brief tutorail so you can do it too. 1) Make a new image, a pretty big one and reset the colors (press d and x to reset) 2) Go to Filter ->Render -> Clouds 3) Then go to filter>stylize>extrude with defualt settings 4) Go to Filter > distort> Polar coordinates with <rectangular to polar> 5) Duplicate the background 2 times so you have 3 layers in total 6) select the bottom layer and Filter>blur>gaussian blur > and an amount of 7 7) press Ctrl+u to get a menu of colors and make the hue:200 and saturation:20 and leave the lightness alone 8 ) Go to the middle layer and do the same to it as step 6 9) Then select mode screen for blending more for all 3 layers 10) select one layer and go to filter>radialblur>zoom>amount:55 quality:best 11) now go to filter>stylize>emboss 126 angle, 100 hight, and amount 73. should leave you with a picture shown below above.... everything done by monkflash - Eye of the storm
