This is not Hollywood. You may be surprised but I am not inspired by the famous Hollywood sign for this type but a grid on a roof of Barcelona. I walked down the street observing the architecture of buildings in the area of the Marina when I saw a grid on a roof. One of the workers put a board on them and the magic happen. This is yet another Willard T. Sniffin deco-inspired original. Created for the American Type Foundry, Hollywood Deco remains a classic that is still as contemporary today as when it first appeared in 1932. Hollywood Revue JNL gets its design inspiration and name from a vintage movie poster for "The Hollywood Revue of 1929". The letter style shows early Art Deco influences, yet the hand lettering was done in the late 1920s toward the end of the Art Nouveau period. MGM produced this early "talkie" all-star musical with a cast that included Jack Benny, John Gilbert, Conrad Nagel, Laurel and Hardy, Buster Keaton, Joan Crawford, Norma Shearer, Polly Moran and many others. This is the motion picture where Cliff ("Ukelele Ike") Edwards introduced "Singin' in the Rain" (composed by Arthur Freed and Nacio Herb Brown). Years later, Freed was a producer at MGM and gathered up many of the songs he and Brown wrote during the 1920s to form the musical core of the 1952 Gene Kelly-Debbie Reynolds-Donald O'Conner musical "Singin' in the Rain".

Gothic Gothic is a fusion of old and new that is both Gothic and Gothic. In typography Gothic can refer to German Blackletter or Old English styles. Gothic can also mean block or sans serif style lettering. By combining and balancing the elements from both of these ideas we have created a contemporary extended block letter typeface. The Gothic Gothic family contains 2 companion fonts. Gothic Gothic Text is a more minimal variation that has a more roman looking style while still retaining some Blackletter feel. Gothic Gothic Black is a bolder version designed to tend more toward the Blackletter style of Gothic with more contrast of stroke and a few of the more unusual Blackletter forms thrown in for flavor. Gothic Gothic has been honored with an award of Excellence in Type Design from Association Typographique International (ATypI) in 2001. Gothiks is a powerfull 6-weight display sanserif influenced by Texturas. The rithm and verticality of Texturas can be easily identified on the letters with diagonal strokes like A N M K k V v W w X x Y y Z z: here they are all vertical. This kind of morphology was chosen because it accepts condensation in a very natural way, giving to this compact sanserif a very unique personality. The intermediate weights can be used for short texts while extreme weights are excellent for big sizes. It has an extensive character set — with extensive language support — and many OpenType features like fractions, small capitals and different figure sets. Default figures align with lowercase.

From original samples of Rudolf Koch's Maximilian, Gothicus and Gothicus Alternate have Fraktur style captials, Gothicus Roman has Roman capitals. All three have the same lower case which includes three swash characters for g, s and t, available as discretionary ligatures in OpenType versions, and manually otherwise. All include two authentic ornaments, also penned by Koch. Gothicus Roman has three additional floret ornaments.
