1 matches view forum post #21763 view details for free font #14102 Heh :) Calm down - I know exactly how you feel. kerning and spacing are the 2 things that will probably make you lose interest in developing the typeface further. I know the feeling: Oh, I'm done with all the glyphs and ligatures, even the nasty punctuation...now what? Oh, crap - KERNING!!! I'd better do something else :)
1 matches view forum post #19876 Oh, no, I do not hate IT. I am hating the job on which I have to use it, and the people involved. Nasty persons, I'm almost shivering. I can see the differences between the two, even if the Promotor is shown very small. Roundish, more 50s-ish, so elegant. Feminine, perhaps, I'd say. I do not know how it's finished into E&F catalogue. Maybe they boght it from Linotype and that's why Promotor isn't anymore available there? Can't understand, though, why they do not sell it as a single font. It just doesn't make sense. And I have to take on the duties and keepe that people away from me as quick as possible ;^)
1 matches view forum post #10813 Maureen, welcome. If you need the Tekton for any business reason ... buy it. Otherwise there are the Technical by Corel, the Technical Regular by WSI, the TechnicsDB Italic by Christine Mauerkirchner and Rainer Grunert (don't be fooled by the 'Italic'), the TriathlonDB Normal also by Christine Mauerkirchner and Rainer Grunert (this one has the Euro sign) and then another 5 which are not 100% copies of the Tekton, the Architect by Hank Gillette, the Architetto by anonymous(e), the Woolkarth-Bold-Bold also by Hank Gillette (note: the lower case e is missing), the Wright Bold by SWFTE (nasty little thing at small sizes) and the Write also by SFWFTE (same problem). 1 matches view forum post #22371 Andrew I wasn't trying to criticize you, like I said, I too have fonts out there with errors. Which overlapping contours are, as well as intersecting points, and redundant points are. You can validate glyphs indivually by opening each glyph and hitting f7 or go to the toolbar and from toolbar > fonts > validate. But keep in mind, to fix all the errors it finds will take a long time, but like I said, I always do it now. I suggest checking the box for the option to automatically fix errors that way it fixes what it can but you still will have to fix intersections yourself which it will list for you and you can save that info as a txt file to refer to. and kk, I would have have to say he is not acting like another kirk or myself even. He is taking our advice a lot better than we did. :) I got downright nasty even but I know what's up now :) [Edited & Added] I see that I did not explain my image very well and worded it wrong. The image shows one glyph with *contours that overlap, points that intersect, points that are redundant, and countours that consist of less than 3 points. To optimize your font these errors need to be corrected, which can be done by running the font validation wizard that I described above.
