well, outlining is not a rocket science, but it requires some skills :) Rounded corners outline would do the trick, in my opinion.

There are so many fonts to choose from - how on earth do you start locating a specific one when you have no idea what it might be called?

Don't know it - but if you need something close - it looks like a knockoff of Handel Gothic Bold. (Sorry, yes, a commercial font.)
I don't see a "Science Fiction" category on abstract - but perhaps you can find something similar in the Sans Serif category here...
