I'm working on a parody/satire piece for a grassroots non profit activist group... and looking for a font that looks like "FF Dax" (regular) but I really need an absolutely free copy. It's for a one off leaflet... which I need to finish soon!

The clue is in the name: mother is Helvetica. Clones, amongst many, MANY!!!, others are swiss721 and geneva. Comes in 2 versions, one for PC and one for Mac. Slightly different.The Mac version can be found here http://www.pa.msu.edu/ftp/pub/misc/tek-phaser/ttfonts/
There is even a clone named bern! How imaginative clone makers are! But the worst of all, if you don't mind the minuscule differences;

redrawn for screen - like the Times New Roman - but - like the Times New Roman - unfit for print - to say the least (Kat's humble opinion).

Does anyone know of a free clone or look alike for Gazz Stencil. Its the typeface the Green Bay Packers use for their logo type face.

That is the Airstream - 2000 Nick Curtis.
Close, but different (compare the a and g) is the original, the Gillies Gothic (Letraset) by William S. Gillies, 1935.
Then there are quite some Gillies Gothics around:
Jillian Gothic BOLDITALIC - 1991 Digital Typeface Corp.
Gallante Regular - 1994 Weatherly Systems, Inc. - thus a clone.
Diner - 1996 Br?derbund Software. Also a clone.

You can also ask uncle for English111PrestoBT. In the first result you see tt0595m_.ttf. Ask uncle again, and again the very first link brings you to an open directory in Spain. Open and you'll see that English111PrestoBT and Shelley Volante are identical.

Hi,
Helvetica Neue is a commercial typeface. You should pay for it or use a good clone. One well done clone is URWPPs Nimbus SansL. It`s part of the Base35 postscript fonts and shipped out with every Ghostscript. The PSType1 Version can be found on any ctan-mirror:

It's GPLed freeware, see file COPYING.

Your lost KarinaBlack is the Eurotype clone of the Korinna Heavy.
Edit:
Not entirely fair to call it is clone because I think Eurotype added the cyrillic characters. Let's say 'a copy of'

Oh yes, from your sample we can see it is the Eurotype copy you used because of the bad kerning for 'Po'. With the Korinna you will not have that problem.

And yes, it lives out there under many names.
