Another possibility is... use DIN for the whole thing! I don't think DIN 1451 is that heavy*** so you would need to add weight and cut the corners off for LIFE of course.
*** Edit: or FF DIN which has loads of weights.

? Hi, I'm a design student replicating a magazine page for a class exercise. I need to find a FREE typeface similar to FF DIN. I'm a student so cannot afford to pay for the actual commercial one. Something similar and free would be great.

i would of loved to use this font, but everytime i tried my computer would shut down even after a reboot just to view the tff it would ... the font looks great but just cant use it

I'm quiet sure it's DIN Mittelschrift Bold, out of the family of German Industrial Standard Fonts (D[/b:0ecb0b7dd1]eutsche I[/b:0ecb0b7dd1]ndustrie-N[/b:0ecb0b7dd1]ormen).

Some more digging explained. The DIN-Medium is a Acrobat default replacement for a sand typeface if the original was not embedded in the PDF.
