So I unzip and paste those 2000 font files. Windows seems to be copying them over w/ no problem. However, only about 1000 of them end up actually there for use in programs. (For instance, the fonts starting with letters A-D take up about 3/4 of my Fonts folder because the rest refuse to install.) I've tried a few different methods of copying and still it stays at 1030 "active" fonts. Is there any way to get around this in Windows ME? - problems installing those 2000 fonts in Win ME

try copying the .ttf files to your c:\Windows\Fonts folder
yes, they should appear in all of your programs ;)

pasting MUST work... because thats all the INSTALL NEW FONT button does... copies the file into your font directory..
are you sure you're copying into the right folder? is there other fonts that are recognized on your system?
have you restarted your application after installing new font? you might have to do that with some programs

I may very well - probably are - wrong about fantazia / gray suits. But I don't feel I am so wrong about copying. A census in my FZ dungeon showed a population of 1296 in 216 families. And sure there are uniques amongst these, but many - too many to my taste - I consider variations on existing type designs. End of muttering.
I should not have written that fontazia was a cloner. True. - re: Need a round font/family

Hello
I hope someone could help me out.
I am a university student - naturally im poor :P
I need to print a few pages but the font I need is not available in the university & they wont allow me to install it.
Does anyone know how to install a font without such previlages. I have tried copying it to the fonts folder but it says access denied.

Well, not necessarily, dear Alex, in my opinion. Did you read the link in my last post? There Brandon from urbanfonts explained it: "Unfortunately, I wrongly accused inb0x.com while another company I hired was in fact responsible for these posts and for copying Alex%u2019s content. They eventually admitted this to me this evening. "
So if a company hires some other professional company for building a house it is the usual term "act bona fide" that he can trust, they will build it properly. You can't control every brick.
But maybe I'm misunderstanding as english is obviously not my native language. - re: is this the new forum?

It is quite simple. You have your opinion - and the right to that opinion - and I have mine. I understand you consider a deformation of an existing typeface a new design, a new typeface, OK. I don't. To me a design is a new creation. Not something that borrows something, reshapes it with some filters and then claims it to be original.
Understand me well my friend, my point is not so much the reshaping - deforming - distorting someting existing. That is quite usual nowadays. My point is that one should not claim the design ownership and claim it is something new if it could not have been made without using an existing design - in this case the Garamond.
And again, if one does something like that to me it is not OK but, OK. Yet at least give the credits. If Chank just had mumbled something like "based on ..." he would have been fair and honest. Now only those that know about typography see that we have another case of borrowing.
So, respecting your opinion - like Voltaire told us to - I still don't consider this a font design. I still consider it a shamefull deformation of the Garamond.
And, indeed, this happens all the time. Your example like the fraktur after a termite attack is only one of many. May I shout MANY? My opinion about those is the same. Cheap effordless copying with a messy result.
That said, welcome aboard. Members with an outspoken opinion are more than welcome. Otherwise we just end up with "what is this". Nevertheless don't let's get to much preoccupied with this, after all, ... it is just a font ... right? There are things happening in this world we are living in that are much more worth to worry about. Agree? - re: F**kpony Typeface

email from urbanfonts to myself:
urbanfonts:
Your forum has been promoting hatred against me and my site for something I didn't do. Your user Kat has been posting aggressive comments on message boards about this and they're UNTRUE.
I already told you a million times that I didn't post these posts, that someone I hired did this WITHOUT my knowledge. Your continued posting on the subject is against the law as you're telling untruthful things about me and I've had it already. I ask you to immediately remove all these posts from your site and to tell your user Kat to stop posting these posts there or elsewhere.
My promise: I did NOT post these posts and I DID NOT copy your site. If you check the IP's you will see that it doesn't resolve to me. Keep accusing me of this and / or copying your site is not true, simply NOT TRUE.
If you have proof that I did any of this (which I didn't), please sue me, however, if you don't, and you keep posting these things, I will have no choice but to sue you. I do have legal representation in Canada where I believe you're located.
bring it on Brandon. hatred? please... just the information. Nobody even swore, which you were deserving at times. you were handled with due caution and approrpiate level of civility.
im going to continue posting information related to this case so people know.
i have STOPPED posting about this few days ago, and almost forgot you exists, until you sent me this. Well, as YOU would like it, lets keep it going.
