Well, *cough*, the one available here is in fact called Bother Brear (as Alex pointed out, with the r jugelled in different places) while I think the original typeface for Brother Bear was inspired by Glasgow, which itself was inspired by the handwriting of Charles Mackintosh. Nope! Architect, no apples. Thanks for listening.

Good choice, J. But considering the display being from an airport, and Frutiger was made for that purpose (for the Charles de gaulle Airport near paris) it could very well be this, too. (Roundness etc. due to the scan?).
So, where is the sample from, Hugo Rango?

Quote from the ReadMe: "Mandatory is a full font developed from the Charles Wright typeface used for UK vehicle registration plates. There is improved stroke separation on the M and W which are pointed at the centre, and the tail of the Q is thinner and clearer.
Mandatory has been designed to conform to the required proportions –
Height – 790 units
Width – 500 units
Stroke – 140 units
Sidebearings – 2 x 55 units (Letter spaces – 110 units)
Word/Group Space – 330 units
Pasted Graphic.tiff ¨
Only the Upper Case letters and the numerals are used for registration plates, although the capital I, which is the same as the 1, is not used and the Q will no longer be used but may still be required for updating old plates.
For designers, the font is completed with small capitals for the lower case, currency symbols, punctuation marks, printers' symbols and accented characters."

For those interested, found this info(by Bitstream):
Frutiger
--------
This typeface design was initially prepared by Adrian Frutiger
for his friend Alfred deVolz at Sofratype. The working drawings
were made by Andre Guertler. The face was called Concorde and
was released in 1968.
When Linotype purchased Sofratype, the face was withdrawn, and
the rights were returned to Frutiger.
The design re-appeard in 1970-71 on the signage for the Charles
de Gaulle airport at Roissy outside of Paris.
Linotype purchased the design from Frutiger and it was
re-released as the typeface Frutiger in 1976.
It has also been released under these names, in no particular
order:
Font Name Company
--------- -------
Concorde Sofratype (original release)
Frutiger Linotype (as Mergenthaler Linotype)
CG Frontiera Compugraphic
Provencale Autologic
Sigfried AM (Addressograph Multigraph)
Freeborn Boeger
Humanist 777 Bitstream
We can now add to this:
Segoe UI Agfa
Segoe Condensed Microsoft

I was a bit too fast here. In fact, the font you are after is the BD Engraved Regular by Streetwise Software, which is a condensed copy of the Caslon OpenFace. There is also a BD Engraved Narrow, even more condensed.
BD stands for büro destruct (Bern, Switzerland).
The Caslon OpenFace lives under many names. This is what I found when I was looking for a proper match:
Gravure by SWFTE
Cresent by Micrologic Software
Chopin, ChopinOpenFace and Chopin Regular, conversions of CHOPINOP.TF1
Charles Open, a conversion of CASOPEN.TF1
Casque OpenFace by Softkey
CasqueOpenFace which is the Sierra On-Line version of the CasqueOpenFace Regular of the WSI-Font Collection
CasperOpenFace by Corel
Casper Open by WSI
NelsieOpenFace, a conversion of nelsie.TF1
PT Epiphany by Ward Technologies
QTCaslanOpen Regular by QualiType
Pinchi, a conversion of PinchiOP.TF1
PinchiOpenFace, a conversion by A.Mendoza of the pinchi.TF1
Casket OpenFace by unknown
PT Cornerstone by Kinghorn Company
And I may have missed a lot.

The Full Moon family was designed in 2001 by Mary Trafton and digitized by Charles Gibbons.
This is what Ulrich Stiehl (sanskritweb.net) tells us:

The "Bitstream Typeface Library" of "Type Odyssey 2" comprises the fonts supplied with CorelDraw. In addition, [Bitstream's] "Type Odyssey 2" CD contains the "Bitstream New Font Collections" of the years 2000-2002, mostly consisting of experimental "rubbish fonts".
Extract from the blurb: "Over 1,450 Fonts from International Designers and Foundries. Celebrating over 20 years of technical excellence, Bitstream charts new territory with Type Odyssey 2, a completely unlocked CD with over 1,450 fonts
from international designers and foundries. Bitstream has added new designs from 36 contributors, including 22 new typeface designers. This world-class compilation includes the Bitstream Typeface Library the Bitstream New Font Collection, and the very latest designs from respected foundries and designers worldwide. At present (Nov. 2004), "Type Odyssey 2" retails at $ 1,495.00, whereas "CorelDraw 9 Graphics Suite" retails at $ 29.90. Therefore whoever buys "Type Odyssey 2", ought to have his head examined.
