Like a building is a building is a building. What building? What for, what size? what shape? A typeface is a style of type such as Times Roman or Helvetica, it does not address size or variations like italic or bold. A font is a subset of a typeface that is a specific size and a specific variant ie; Helvetica Narrow 18 point bold italic is a font as is Helvetica Narrow 18 point bold and so on. This distinction is very important because it givs us the possibility to point out exactly what we mean. If you say "Times", I think which one? Roman, bold, oblique? What size? For the simple reason that in type not every font (subset) is fit for every use. As a 9 point roman perfectly fit for newspaper print. But muddy on art paper. As a 12 point even unfriendly to the eye. Times Bold same story. Shaped for 12 point newspaper lead text but absolutely unsuitable for headings. Before fast food arrived and the chef knew what he was serving people that worked with type were -and still are- very concious about this but in the mass consumpion world of the computer type use the differentiation is beginning to blur as so many of us are given the ability to do amazing things with typefaces and the programmers that wrote the software did not know the difference between a building and a building. OK?

1 matches view forum post #18371 view details for free font #13019 Did you use fontstruct to create this font? Doesn't it use building blocks to create characters? Looks like all the extra path info screwing with this standard Linux font rendering software as it appears to be ok on Windows XP.
1 matches view forum post #5574 I am looking for a free font where part of the letter is a column (like the kind that you see in Rome that helps support the building). Any help would be greatly appreciated. You may e-mail me at murphy1620@aol.com
1 matches view forum post #16260 Our cat likes to go on the roof above the entrance to my building.. It's about a five foot jump straight up from our porch. When it snows, however, he goes on the window ledge, then uses a bench as a springboard to leap a 7 1/2 foot distance, rising four feet, just so he doesn't get snow on his paws or bum.

1 matches view forum post #5366 Well, I have a building for my business. I keep them in there. But we're also connected to several trusted backbones, incase our servers suffer some issues. Our connection on the servers are on 3 OC12 lines (A.K.A. - Really damn fast lines.)... Most people don't really care about the Bandwidth (except businesses), but care more about Price and Webspace. I know people who would pay for extra bandwidth, so long as they get a large amount of Webspace for a low-decent price.
1 matches view forum post #19368 Hello, I building an ATC simulator in flash. I found these fonts here: http://www.tls.cena.fr/products/fonts/bleriot_snapshots.html but it turns out that flash does not uses these type of fonts. I have fontLab but I also can't convert bdf to ttf... I never build a font, is it possible to build a ttf from these bdf... if it is to complicated, does anybody knows similar free fonts I can use? Tks in advance, Yantis
1 matches view forum post #9298 Well, not necessarily, dear Alex, in my opinion. Did you read the link in my last post? There Brandon from urbanfonts explained it: "Unfortunately, I wrongly accused inb0x.com while another company I hired was in fact responsible for these posts and for copying Alex%u2019s content. They eventually admitted this to me this evening. " So if a company hires some other professional company for building a house it is the usual term "act bona fide" that he can trust, they will build it properly. You can't control every brick. But maybe I'm misunderstanding as english is obviously not my native language.
