1 matches view forum post #8819 Thanks koeiekat... I think that you are very close to the mark with the VAG Font tip. After looking into the VAG font Family it was discovered that it was originally developed for Volkswagen in 1979. This is around the time that the Powell company started using this modified form. I also think that it may have been a company patented font type, thus why it has been imposable to find out there. This font is only used by Powell Peralta (SkateOne) and is semi famous due to the huge popularity of the Powell Peralta brand name, thus its relationship to skateboarding. Thanks for searching around for the font and I will send the boys and girls an email over at SkateOne. Thanks again. PS. I love getting things for free, but a shiny head I can do without for now. I would be happy to wait a few years (say 20-30) before I need to start applying car polish to the top of my melon. Maybe I should start wearing an ice-cream bucket on my head, whist I do my search. I love ice - so thatā??s a win win. Cheers for now
1 matches view forum post #6367 well, i've seen at least 3-4 guys who were offering few dollars as a sign of appreciation... i can set up a page where i will have any helpers' PayPal accounts listed and the names of people donated money ( if desired ). it is not hard but could be nice to have free ice-cream once in a while ;) i dunno, Ute appears once in a while but she's prolly busy with her own stuff at the moment...
1 matches view forum post #11459 Sorry for jumping into this discussion but this is as Geofff said a tricky one. The only one I can find that comes a bit close is Matthew Welch's College. No perfect match though, look at the serifs at the R. I also have doubts about the 2002. Looks to me like a totally different type - rounded corners. And then of course there is the conflict with the ampersand. But as this seems to be a weird mix anyway who cares to throw in another font to make it look like the example. To me the ampersand looks like the one in 'Lady Ice - Expanded'. But to keep in style with the College you might as well use the ampersand of the 'Featured Item'. If your client has a better sample we can try again.
1 matches view forum post #11345 Quote: "Alan Meeks designed the Candice typeface in 1976. A groovy swirl of a font, Candice looks like an ice cream sundae topped with whipped cream. Candace is often seen on album covers, and has come to be associated with innumerable party hits from the 1970s. One thing is for sure: Candice is a child of it's times - flashy, lively, and fun!" If someone is REALLY interested, you can contact Mr. Alan Meeks here. [OT] Dear KKat, what interesting application do you use for the Screen we are watching? I am in awe with the matching solutions. Is it some typeface-identification-program? Cool, if it is.
1 matches view forum post #7089 [quote:be0b9c7fa2="fontDJ"] I mean the font name .Since it is a common font , its name should be simple and easy to remember [/quote:be0b9c7fa2] I'm afraid that, if you are 'complaining' about the complicated name of this "font", you'll have to learn something about typography and the history of typography to understand that your remark is slightly misplaced. The type Garamond stems from the early times of printing. A few hundred years back. The Garamond has been the example for many other type designs. Through time more and more faces of the Garamond have developed. Bold faces, oblique faces, extended faces, condensed faces and the combinations of those. Every face, therefore, has its own name/description to distinguish it from the other Garamond faces. These faces are what you call a font. We call it a typeface: the Type and the Face. To us a font is a typeface in a particular size. 8 points, 12 point, 18 points, 36 points and so on. What you are asking for is us to call a grizzly bear simply a bear. Because that is easier. But where does that leave the brown bear, the ice bear, the ... bear and so on? So when you ask for a 'font' ID you get a 'typeface' With the full identification. OK? End of lecture.
