I'm glad you managed to get the job done Karman. The closest I have seen to that style is Royal Gothic. AOE have a version called SS Royal Gothic but the letter "a" differs from your sample.

first glance i thought it was Copperplate Gothic Light (usually included with all win comps).. but i know they have those lines at the ends. i think there's another gothic font called Sackers Gothic.
if anyone wanted to know the script font, its font called Carpenter.

I think this font might prove difficult to adequatly kern. I think some of the S pairs are horrendous. The large P looks odd with some pairs and lack their of, their are many areas to be improved upon.
I think I did a better job kerning Champagne, though it's letter spacing might also be a little tight ( have a tendancy to do that) I don't have Avant Garde myself, but I suppose Century Gothic might be another font that might work well.

I want use this font in a project, see photo attached, but I can't quite work out what it is. I know it's not the following fonts, but very simular;
Gothic Special Condensed Medium
Trump Gothic
Steelfish
Tandelle
Pacific Standard Book
Linotype Alternate Gothic 1
It's the main font used on the V Magazine website (for site navigation headings etc.) http://www.vmagazine.com
Help in identifying this font would be really appreciated.

The attached text was produced on an IBM Selectric III Compatible typewriter.
I know it is Letter Gothic and presumably at 12 pitch as that was the standard size for this font on the IBM - but here's my problem:
I'm trying to recreate this font on a PC but having difficulty.
1) Using the font 'lettergothicstd.otf' is very similar, but the original text is much more condensed...
2) The weight of the font in the original is much heavier than I can create. Bolding up lettergothic.otf is still not as heavy as the original.
Does anyone know why I can't get the original look of the IBM Selectric in terms of how the font is condensed and its weight?
Many thanks
