No, I don't think what you want to do is re-distribute the fonts. The fonts you want to use, however, should be licensed for commercial use. If they are not, best contact the designer first. Most won't object for an application like yours - I assume.
Good luck.
Out of curiosity, when the application is there, tell us.
Koeiekat,
Thanks for the reply. My web app is not available yet (still in development). Yes I intend to, at least in the beginning, use only fonts that are "free for commercial use" since I cannot afford to pay. I just want to make sure that for the purpose of my application I don't need the "for distribution" clause, and from your reply I take it that I don't need to (but best to confirm with the authors).
Thanks a lot!
Hi I'm new to this forum and dealing with fonts is also a new thing to me.
I have a question about font licensing.
Some fonts are licensed under (a) "Free for personal and commercial use" and some under (b) "... and distribution". What is the definition of distribution?
In particular I am developing a web application and I would like to allow the user to use a selection of fonts. Is this considered "distribution"? Note that the users don't save the fonts to their computer, but the fonts are being used in the web application.
Thanks.
