is there a list of common or suggested kerning pairs anywhere?

Proper kerning pairs are done by hand. If you find that too much work - yes it can take many, many, hours - use auto-kerning.

i was just wondering, for example LT AV are obvious ones but I was thinking that there would somewhere be a list of common ones or typical ones.

The kerning depends on the font design so there is no standard set. The way to do it quick and dirty is to find a type that has a similar design as yours - AND proper kerning pairs. Export, and then import the kerning info in your own design. Success not guaranteed. You will still have to adjust.
