Downloaded and unstuffed a couple of free fonts and dumped them in the fonts folder, as instructed. They appear in the fonts list in Quark Xpress but apparently ATM can't display them on screen. Any ideas please? [I'm using a Mac G4 with system 9.1]

That's a strange one... OS 9 doesn't have very stable support for TTF files. But you are saying that the fonts appeared on the font list in Quark meaning that the OS has recognized it. So it is ATM

have you tried openning ATM and finding those fonts in there and see if they are causeing any conflicts and such.

actually, i dont know if ATM is to blame as it deals with Type1 or postscript fonts. So it might be your OS.

Yup, the font's are on the list in Xpress, but when you select one it just displays as the default font on screen. When the mac starts up there's an alert saying atm could display certain fonts due to an error - it doesn't say what though, which is useful...
