Hi,

Alex you might know this. Is there any way to read fonts without using FreeType in PHP? Installing FreeType will take me some time as I have to reconfigure the active server and am willing to do if it is the only way.

as far as i know that the only way to go about it.

well, it depends what functions you are using. To use imagestring and imagestringup functions in PHP you dont need FreeType only GD. It uses the core fonts without anti-aliasing... depends on what you need

eventually you'll need FreeType ;)
