Hi,

I used to have Burton's Nightmare TTF and it worked fine with Win98. I have a new computer with Windows 2000 and when I tried to use it (just double-clicking the font even), I get an error message that it is NOT a valid font.
Is there a version for Windows 2000 of the Burton's Nightmare TTF?

Hi Everyone,

Found a font that will work as a sub for Burton's Nightmare that doesn't work for Win2000. It's "PS Bluegum Forest" and can be found at URL:

The previous sub offer I was given didn't work when I opened it as a font. BUT ! ! this one will. Love it when a plan comes 2gether.

Oh Boy here goze,

The Bluegum font OPENED in Win2000 but when I tried to use it in Corel Draw (V10), it would NOT resize correctly. So . . . another search ensued.
Result:
P22 Victorian Swash for either $24 @

OR:
$14 @
http://www.myfonts.com for just the one font
Had to buy it because I needed it for a client. So anyone who needs a substitute for either Burton's Nightmare or PS Bluegum Forest that WILL resize correctly, P22 Victorian Swash is the cat's meow.

hello all! i have a windows xp but still could not download/use the Burton's Nightmare font, so i went on a google search! i found a free, (yes, FREE) link/font that actually works on my computer, and it is the true NBC font.... best of luck to everybody!

If someone is interested: The commercial font for Burton's nightmare seems to be (a modified?) P22 Victorian Swash.

Swallow - they knew that back in 2002 - when they were pricing it... (see Ellen's response, two up from yours...)

Meanwhile, I wonder if they problem back in 2002 was they weren't un"zipping" or un"stuffing" the font... LOL

Oh, yes, I see. Thank you Jackie. And I'm sure they tried to install a zip-file as a TTF-font. :-D

The problem with Burton's Nightmare and the likes is that in the metrics the unique font identifier is not included. Up till Win98 Windows Font Viewer ignored that and opened the font. As from Win2000 this changed.
The solution is simple: give the font a unique identifier - normally the type name or the typeface name and ... Bingo!
